Being in love

When you’re in love, and sometimes it just changes you from the inside out.  It makes your head spin like you’re going in the air.  I was listening to some Air Traffic Control pilots going through the air, and they were talking about how planes work.  Planes work in a way that is so amazing.  That’s the same way it is with the Lord.  The Lord loves us.  Sometimes, when you get to that intimate place with the Lord, and He’s just about to whisper sweet nothings into your ear, and tell you how much He loves you, and then your mother comes into the room, and disturbs the quiet surrender to the Holy Spirit.  All you want is Him, but his rod is like a paddle that you hit yourself with on the bottom when you get into trouble.  But nonetheless.  The Lord is gracious and slow to anger, and good to all.  He loves each of us so tremendously.  Sometimes when we’re struggling just to make it through the night, He carries the badge of honor that says to the dear soldier, that you, son are mine.  But for the bride, and I know men, you cannot imagine what it is to be a bride, and you’d rather be like eunuchs, which according to one definition in the Blue Letter Bible is “an effeminate man.”  I don’t need to even go there, make your own judgment call on that one.  I have no biases.  I want all people to be blessed, and if they get offended, that that is their problem.  But the Love of God is so immense for us.  It is beyond what we can do or say or think and it is above measure.  We are His children dear saints, and He loves us so dearly.  He has called us His bride for a reason.  One Scripture verse that really bothers me is that “anointing is without repentence.”  Sometimes it’s hard to believe that because is it true that if you’re operating out of love you’ll have it just flowing out of you.  It’s like an Earthquake, let’s go higher soundtrack by Jordan Knight (CASHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNG)  You’ll have this love radiating out of you.  It’s like the tender caresses of the beach upon the ocean as the tides go rippling on the sand, and the Lord takes you by His side, and He just looks into your eyes, and says, “I love you, and He just lets you cry in His arms, and He just sits down with you, and like the adulterous woman He says, I forgive you.  I have washed you clean.  Don’t think about that stuff anymore, I just want you well.  I want you to know how much I love you and I have always been by your side.  I have been wherever you want to be.  This is real.  This is where we are, just you and me in the beach of paradise, and nothing can harm us anymore.  In this paradise you can pick from any tree and it will be yours, and yes even the mangos don’t have cyanide in them anymore.  Believe me, I love you, I care for you.  I think about you all the time.  You are my special princess, and I just want you to know that I love you until the darkness flees away and goes back into the quasar in which it belongs, but as for us we will have our quiet time.  Our time of solid surrender and peace and love.  I need you as much as you need me.  Don’t you see that we cannot be separated, my love my bride.  Don’t you see, that you have gone to the Cross for me too?  Not by a physical death, but by the very tearing of your soul to shreds because of the way you have gone through the “blender of theology” for me.  Now you’re whole and you’re one, and guess what I peaced you together, with my spirit.  I knit you and ordained you and established you as mine, my precious bride, the one I love.  Whenever one part was hitting on the other, or another part was just falling to pieces, or when one part was just not working right at all and you were thinking what’s wrong with this part.  This part was the one that I hold dearly.  It is where I put the Yud in my name, which created, the “Y” and it is why I chose the English alphabet to symbolize that to show that in the Y he has put His mark on His bride, the woman.”

I don’t know what my response would to be to a statement such as that, but I would be like Tom Cruise and say, “You had me at Hello.”  You had me at “Hello.”  Those secret words that made Tom Cruise jump on the couch on Oprah’s show, yes Oprah the New Age insanity queen with Deepak Chopra, Tom Cruise, was in love, even though he was a scientologist, but they were not wrong on one point.  The DSM-V is a big joke.  Oprah’s got the most beautiful rose Garden, but it’s sad to see that she doesn’t realize that there is a man that can love her even more than Stedmont can, there is a man that can love her deep in her soul.  The very thing that has set the black woman free in these ages like Harriet Tubman who give Sasha and Malia (Obama)  someone to look forward too, and that is the Freedom that Christ died to give, but it is much more than freedom.  It is a love.  It is a love that captures the heart and spins circles around us.  It is the very thing that we’ve all been waiting for.  It is our Prince, no not the singer, even though he did give Diamonds and Pearls.  I don’t want any harsh textual critics to look at this peace and say it is just a bunch of fluff, because this is coming from my heart, and I really mean it when I say it, but Our Master, our Jehovah, Abba, Jesus Christ, YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!

Very much like the sound of many waters, or like the sound of sprinklers going off at 2 AM, and then you’re woken up by a kiss and you don’t know if it’s him…..so then JESUS CHRIST, He loves us and He will avenge His bride.  Anyone who takes avenge on His bride will see the wrath of God upon them sevenfold, and the reason why I am saying this is because we have got to get rid of violence in this society.  And things like gay marriage.  I know that some people say it’s bigotry.  But we are more than our physical bodies.  We have a soul, and a spirit.  If you’re in love with a guy and you’ve never heard him talk that deeply about his spiritual side because he’s afraid or he doesn’t want to admit it, then maybe he’s not worth having.  Maybe it’s better to cultivate the fruits of the Spirit, Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, KIndness, Goodness, My favorite Gentleness, Faithfulness, and Self-Control my least favorite.  Think about how we can harmonize the whole world by just the simple acts of love.  Keep holding on to love.  It’s what holds the world together.  It’s the core of the Earth – Core, Crust, Mantle.  not CCIM,  Yes Crust like Pie or Pizza Crust.  Core like Apple and it also probably comes from the word where we get Corinthians from.  Lord help to get through this posting, I am tired but I must preach.

Sometimes all you want to do is to go and be in a hole in a dark dark hole and never come out.  But Jesus has conquered death and He said in His word, “I have come so that you may have life and life more abundantly.”

Heavenly Father,

We speak blessing and favor over you today – We speak soundness of mind, prosperity, peace, deliverance, happiness joy, and long life over you and most of all a Merry and a Funky Christmas, just remember not burn St. Nick’s rear end.

IN Jesus Mighty name I pray,

Amen.

Successful Strategy for Liberty and Prosperous Nation

Today I watched a documentary called:  Monumental:  In Search of America’s National Treasure.  In this documentary Kirk Cameron takes an adventure across the country to find out how the founding fathers had to fight and what we had to go through  to be where we are today.

In this documentary there was a little known about statue called theMatrix of Liberty built about 130 years ago.

This statue represents the only successful strategy for liberty and a prosperous nation.

There are some parts that are key and essential to for liberty and a prosperous nation:

1)  Faith – where in the statue was pointing to Heaven – in the God of the Bible and there was an Open Bible in the statue

2)  Character – inward liberty or moral transformation of the heart – as opposed to a top down morality where they had back under the monarchy before the Puritans came over.  You could still be a church, where someone would tell you what to do and what not to do, but true character started with an inward morality. This inward transformation of the heart required an Evangelist.

3)  Evangelist- would teach the Great Gospel of Jesus Christ what it means to transform the heart and how to do it according to the Bible

4)  Civil Law – (which is based on the Bible) – It dealt with mercy and equity that the Law based on the Bible with and a mercy and equity for all man kind

5)  Justice – an important thing to remember is that Justice and Equity is also dependent upon Mercy and Grace

6)  Youth – It was the parent’s responsibility to educate –  This nation was originally founded not on doing whatever the government says as far as education goes to parent’s and grandparent’s responsibility to teach the kids the Ten Commandments the Bible or how the world works from a Biblical Perspective instead of lining up to the governing authorities because their worldview was different.

7) Liberty – fruit the result of the matrix – was a man called liberty who had broken chains and had the lion of tyranny smashed under his feet which at that time represented the tyranny of the Lion of England.

Other interesting facts:

In 1647 the Library of Congress Printed the the Bible to be used for Schools according to David Barton who has one of the largest and/or oldest collection of Bibles in U.S.

There is the motto of Harvard which is found behind a tree and a fire hydrant that says “Christ and the Church”  and underneath that it says “Truth”

We as a nation have been given a model based on the Bible on how to maintain freedom and liberty in a nation.  When the Mayflower Compact was signed it was signed as a covenant between God and this Nation so that we may have the Liberty that God has so graciously bestowed upon us.  During those times when things were hard and oppressive for the Puritan’s and Pilgrims they did not give up and say it was the end of the age and God will just come and rescue us.  They fought against tyranny and secured the place for the future.  Now that is not saying that we have to ignore the signs of the End times and the signs of the age as they were in the days of Noah.  We can be ignorant of these things as well.  But we as Christians have been given tremendous liberties all across this nation and if it weren’t for these people, and what began in here then the Gospel would not be preached to the nations across the world through the missionaries that have been sent across the world.  They had to struggle through difficult times, and sacrifice their very lives and their families so they could impact nations.  They to fight against persecution which is going on in so many countries right now.  Maybe that’s why we’re not seeing persecution in America too that great extent because we’ve had our share of persecution from the beginning of the nation and as Solomon said that “there is nothing new under the sun” meaning that basically history repeats itself.  I am just amazed at the character of the people who were pastored by Pastor John Robinson of the Puritan movement and what they had to go through during those days.  There was a time of intense struggle and difficulty and it was all for a cause.  They too had to meet in underground Churches and they had to read the Bible in secret and they didn’t have internet, or electricity, air conditioning.  They had to sleep on ice, and snow, some of them were dying and sick, but they fought to secure a place for future generations.  It took tremendous character which through technology has been severely lost.  But thank God for the blessings which he has bestowed upon us because of these people’s sacrifice.  We have so much to be thankful for and as Solomon also said in Ecclesiastes after everything – all the books you read, movies you watch, and all the “chasing after the wind” what’s more important is fearing God and obeying the commandments.  Sometimes we have oversimplified the Gospel to just love, and that’s good to love, and out of the seed of love which Jesus had commanded, he gave us the means to follow the Ten Commandments through the inner transformation of heart which shows Christ’s nature through the people in the world and in the Church.

1 Corinthians 13:

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned,[a]but have not love, it profits me nothing.

Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part. 10 But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away.

Does not neglect :

The Ten Commandments

20 And God spoke all these words, saying:

“I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

“You shall have no other gods before Me.

“You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.

“You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.

“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. 11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.

12 “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you.

13 “You shall not murder.

14 “You shall not commit adultery.

15 “You shall not steal.

16 “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

17 “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s.”

It is just a means of the how to of fulfillment.  The latter is guidelines for a society and a set of principles and precepts to obey and follow, and the former is the analysis of character within a believer’s inner man pouring forth outward to see the inner transformation of Christ poured forth.

The law of liberty has its cost but it’s definitely worth fighting for and Thank God for the Blessings bestowed upon this nation and across the world because of some people who had a vision and purpose to fight instead of giving up to slavery.

To summarize Kirk Cameron’s statement – “Each person can make a difference!” How are you trying to make a difference?

Jesus knows your name

Jesus Christ knows your name – He knows everything about you.  He died for you so that your soul can be saved.  He is the lover of your soul.  He loves you with his entire being.   He loves everything about you.  He knows your deepest darkest secrets and He came to save your life.   He’s alive and He wants to save you from your sins.

Do you want accept Jesus Christ in your life today?

Tough Love

We think that love is always easy.  Sometimes we are deceived into thinking that we don’t have to change.  Sometimes we need that extra push so that we may grow and that requires.

When I was relearning how to walk again, my relative used to go and because she loved me tell me to go and make me do it.  She used to take away all helping devices and she used to push me to learn not to depend on the crutch that I carried.

Many times we have been to a gym, and when we go to a gym, we learn to exercise, and if you have a personal trainer, – depends on the trainer, but a lot of trainers will make you push and push until you feel like you are going to die.  That is discipline.  The more out of shape you are the more discipline will be required.

Sometimes God will show tough love.  It’s not that He doesn’t love us, but He wants us to grow so He’s giving us that discipline to help us grow.

Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as his children. For what children are not disciplined by their father? If you are not disciplined—and everyone undergoes discipline —then you are not legitimate, not true sons and daughters at all. Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of spirits and live! 10 They disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, in order that we may share in his holiness. 11 No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. – Hebrews 12:7

I am coming back to that verse as a gentle reminder of what we must go through as Christians.  We will all go through some kind of testing to make sure that we are growing.  We will have all of our idols removed from us, until it is Jesus we seek and find and knock.  It may require a period of fasting or it may require setting your heart to pray, or it may require having control of your emotions instead of your emotions controlling you, but you have one thing to remember that despite the tough love, God loves you and He still cares for you but He doesn’t want you to stay where you are.

Jesus the Seeker of the Lost

Have you ever been driving and gotten lost?  Even with this day of modern technology you can still get lost, unless you have a GPS.  We apparently do not have a GPS so when we were driving around in circles about twice this week.  It is always good when you know where you are going.  Even then you sometimes end up on the wrong path.  This has spiritual implications for the people who are Christians, and the people who don’t know Christ yet.  Before we accepted Christ, we were all lost.  We were driving around without any sense of direction.  We didn’t know where we were going, or maybe we did, but we were wrong.  Some people realize that they need directions or a map, or instruction on how to get from one place to another, but some people think they know the right way. God gives clear instructions as He did to Noah when He was building the ark, and as He did to Solomon when he was building the temple.

Jesus is always looking for lost people, whether believers or unbelievers.  He is looking for His sheep who are lost.

15 Then all the tax collectors and the sinners drew near to Him to hear Him. And the Pharisees and scribes complained, saying, “This Man receives sinners and eats with them.” So He spoke this parable to them, saying:

“What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!’ I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance.

We are so lost without Jesus in our lives.  Without Him we would not be able to make.  He  is the Savior of our souls, and He makes straight paths for our feet.  Without His guidance through the Holy Spirit, we would be wandering around in darkness without a light.  It’s good if you have night vision and can see in the dark, but most people don’t have that night vision and so when they are wandering in darkness they would need a light.

Sometimes when we go to Church we see the people who are there including ourselves and we ourselves are rejoicing and singing and worshipping, and we forget about the one person out there who is in need of our support, encouragement, and love.  We think because we are growing to new levels with God and really blessed by God, we forget about the people who are outcast, and wandering around in life with no direction.  They could keep going around in circles until they find Jesus and have the hope and the love that guides them into the right path.

The Christian path to love unconditionally is a difficult one, and sensitivity means allowing your self to be emotionally hurt sometimes, but it is the sacrifice that God has required us to make.  It may be difficult and very difficult and very humbling to be with someone who is suffering.

I have never had the experience of working in a Nursing Home, but I can see the place where they come from  inside the Nursing Home.  People who are disabled, and maybe even elderly, may not have that much hope left because so much of their life is left behind them, and they may live with regret if they are lost.  They are in the last stages of their life and they need more love and compassion.  To understand them, you have to understand them as people and have a heart for the lost.  The physically disabled may see life in limitations and may feel discouraged by their circumstances because they have an expectation for God to heal them, but they may not have little faith to see it come to pass.  They need to be taught of the love and the goodness of God first and built on that foundation before they can see things happen in their bodies.  Which brings us back to one of the verses in the parable of the Lost Sheep.  Jesus said, He rejoices over that one sheep that is lost.  The Bible says – rejoice with those who rejoice and weep with those who weep.

It takes more than praying for someone it takes, going out of your way and going the extra mile to meet that person at their point of need.  This goes for anyone who is lost.  Even if the person is stubborn, we must still show compassion and love toward them and enough love to melt the person’s heart and soften it until it becomes like wax because don’t you know dear brethren, that the kindness of God leads to repentance.  I think in some ways Peter was also stubborn, and it took Jesus to rebuke Peter, but He was still kind to Peter.

To be like Jesus takes great understanding of people.  This understanding of people comes from the Holy Spirit, who allows us to have compassion and to seek after the lost just like Jesus does.  Sometimes we have to meet them at their level, and show them what Christ is like.  Of course there is always free-will and whether they choose to accept the love of Christ is completely up to them, but Jesus is always pursuing them, and He is going after the lost with compassion.

Let’s say you say you see that person who didn’t show up to Church for a long time show up, are you going to carry on as usual, or are you going to throw a special party in honor of that person?  That’s what Jesus would do.  Jesus would go and rejoice, with singing, over that person who was lost.

Without the Light we are walking in darkness and Jesus is the Light, and we need to be vessels of light and to shine the light among the people.  We need to show abundant care and concern for our brothers, and we need to ask ourselves, am I my brother’s keeper?  It may be very difficult and very hard, but with the strength of the Holy Spirit, it becomes easy to pursue someone with love.

How can we be a light to others and how can we go after the lost?

Fear God or Fear man?

We are taught in the Bible that Fearing God is a good thing.  We cannot fear God and fear man at the same time.   Psalm 118:6 says the Lord is with me, I will not fear, what can man do to me?

Have you ever felt intimidated by someone?  It may be someone in a position of authority.  It may be your parents.  It may be your boss.  It may be spiritual elders.  Whenever you are around them, you just get so scared that , “what if I do something wrong, or say something wrong, will they get mad at me?”  If you haven’t been that person, then maybe you’re the person who is causing people to be afraid of you by your domineering and controlling nature.

1 Timothy 1:17 says that God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind.  But sadly in this world we are confronted with people who we think are giants.  If they are not giants, they may be part of our family or our spiritual family.  There are a lot of Eliab’s and Goliath’s in our lives these days.

28 Now Eliab his oldest brother heard when he spoke to the men; and Eliab’s anger burned against David and he said, “Why have you come down? And with whom have you left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know your insolence and the wickedness of your heart; for you have come down in order to see the battle.” 29 But David said, “What have I done now? Was it not just a [n]question?” 30 Then he turned [o]away from him to another and said the same thing; and the people answered the same thing as [p]before.

Have you ever been around some people you around that when you are around them, you try to be honest with them, but after they use their intimidation and control over you and they may become like a bully to you.  You may feel like you cannot stand up to them or you cannot even talk to them because they are so much in control and domineering.  You avoid talking to them because they make you feel really small and insignificant.

David knew who he was and more importantly he knew who God was.  He knew that God would fight his battle for him.  He knew that God had given him strength.  David was rejected by people all the time because he was always praying for deliverance from personal enemies.  Some people are just like the Goliath’s and the Eliab’s and that’s part of their personality.  It’s called a choleric personality because they are very directive and strong.

But the Bible says we wage war not against the flesh and blood, but principalities and rulers in high places, and we must must must know who God is and I mean who He really is and what His nature is like if we are ever to be able to have victory in our lives.

We must know that God is a God of power and there is nothing that man can do to you if God is on your side.  We must put the proper perspective about respecting authority and being controlled by fear and intimidation because fear and intimidation is not from God.  There are times when people will be strict with you, but there are times that you must be able to stand up for yourself and give a logical answer for what you believe and if they still don’t understand then you leave it up to God for them to understand.  You let God have control and let Him take over because there is no use in worrying about what people do to you.  People are only human and if you fear people more than God then you are making an idol out of them.  You have to think about what dominates your thoughts most of the time.  Is it Jesus or is it this one person that has just been treating you or other people the wrong way.

Let me take some time to tell you about Jesus – He is loving –

He loves you so much He gave His life for both you and me.

He is joyful – He rejoices at every soul that comes to Him even the lost.

He is patient – He is patient to see everyone come to him.

He is kind – He speaks tenderly and kindly with speech seasoned with salt and grace that supplies every need.

He is peaceful – His yoke is easy and His burden is light, and He wants you to have nothing but peace in your life, but it is not as the world gives.

He is good – His goodness is shown throughout the Gospels because of His nature, He was always good to people.

He is gentle- He is the perfect gentleman and especially through the Holy Spirit which He provides.

He is meek, so humble to even wash the disciples feet

He is faithful – The Bible says He is faithful even when we are faithless

He is self-controlled – meaning that He disciplines Himself in all that He does.

The same thing can be said of the Father,

The Father is loving, It is through His love that we received salvation

The Father is patient – He also does not want to see a single soul lost

The Father is kind – The Father is kind to His children, which is shown through the parable of the Prodigal Son

The Father is joyful – He is joyful at what your heart thinks of His goodness

The Father is peaceful – He is Jehovah Shalom the Prince of Peace

The Father is good – I want to stop here and take some closer look at the Father’s goodness –

I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the LORD In the land of the living.- Psalm 27:13 – unless we see the Father as good then we will be despaired.  This has been lost on people.  They think that the Heavenly Father is mad at them or is angry with them.  That is not His intention.  He doesn’t want you to think that He is angry with you.  He loves you.  He sent His Son to die for you.  He is angry with the world for their sins, and He hates sin, but He doesn’t hate the person.  He is a God of justice, if you have been doing the right things in life then He is not mad at you.   Even if you do sin, if you honestly repent (turn around) from that sin after you’ve accepted Jesus then He’ll accept you with open arms.

Have you ever been around people, and they would tell you “don’t touch me, you’re disgusting?”  The Untouchables in India are treated as third world people and as disgusting because they are of a lower class of people.  With God there is no lower class of people.  When God got angry in the Old Testament, He got angry at the injustices in the Old Testament, and even today if you treat people unjustly then God gets angry and He gets offended and He his wrath go out on people who do severe injustices to man kind for those who are not under the Blood.

People have been lost on how tremendously good God is and how great He is.  How He cares for us intricately and intimately and deeply and with great knowledge of us and great compassion for us.  It is in this sense we have to magnify God.  We have to magnify His goodness in our lives.

The Father’s gentleness is shown through His spirit which is so gentle kindling our hearts with a quiet and calm affection and tender lovingness which He so bestows upon us.

The Father and Jesus are one, everything that is in Jesus is also in the Father and everything in the Father is also in Jesus and in that we have the Holy Spirit who kindles our heart with affection and love so that we may experience the fullness of our being.  There is only one who comes to steal, kill, and destroy, and it is not God.  God came that you may have life and more abundantly.

After we have first realized all these things about God, then we can realize how Holy He is.  He is so Holy that if you’ve ever been near the sun, then you know it will just burn you alive, but that’s why through His Word and by His Spirit we have been shown the characteristics of God.

13 If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body [a]to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing.

I want to get to 1 Corinthians 13 before I get to something else:

Love is patient-   Are we patient with people sinning against us?  Are we patient with infirmities?  Are we patient with waiting for God (this is a process and doesn’t happen overnight), love is kind (Are we kind to people, even when they are wrong?  Or they may be wallowing in self-pity or going off the wrong track, will we still restore them kindly?  Do we provoke fear of us or do we provoke fear of God in the person.  And is not jealous – are we jealous of where someone has gotten with God.  We should not be jealous, because that means we don’t love our selves and take for granted our blessings.

Love does not brag and is not arrogant- Do we keep telling people of our accomplisments over and over and over again or do we just say, it was God and not me, does not act unbecomingly- do we act with good manners, and I’m not talking about using the right fork at the dinner table.  It does not seek its own- do we expect things from people for ourselves?

Is not provoked- Do we get angry at all the little things and don’t take into consideration God’s goodness?,

Does not take into account a wrong suffered,- This may be the hardest thing and a very difficult thing and it may be a struggle for very very very many people especially believers who should no better but often we find ourselves caught in the traps of bitterness because of something someone has said to us and the way they have treated us over and over again.  Forgiveness is what we are commanded to do but when all we see is our hurt and our pain and all we have to hold on to then it becomes difficult to let go and then once we have let go it may be a long time afterwards to deal with the side effects of unforgiveness on our bodies.    Does not rejoice in unrighteousness- Here’s a key – if you know you’re doing something wrong but you don’t enjoy doing it then that means that there is still something of value in you, but if you rejoice when you know you are doing something wrong (and I’m not talking about eating that chocolate cake) then that means you’ve grown.  But rejoices with the truth- The Truth makes you free.  We must be careful not to get so spiritual that we are not able to meet the needs of the people around us.  We need to wear spiritual bifocals.  One side to see man’s weaknesss and the other side to see God’s perspective because if you don’t then you are in danger of being self-righteous and having pride set in.  Bears all things, believes all things or believes the best of every person, hopes all things, endures all things.

Love never fails; but if there are gifts of [c] prophecy, they will be done away; if there are tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part; 10 but when the perfect comes, the partial will be done away. 11 When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child; when I [d]became a man, I did away with childish things. 12 For now we see in a mirror [e]dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know fully just as I also have been fully known. 13 But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the [f]greatest of these is love.

God’s holiness is like the sun, you get near it you can get burned, it is the totality of his being.  His power is greater than that of electricity.   God has not given us a spirit of fear – that means to fear man, but of power to overcome, of love which is the most painful thing in this life, and a sound mind, which comes when you have the assurance that God will not let you go or forsake you or leave you alone.  That God is with us all the time and all the time He is good.

We must not let this intimidating spirit operate in our lives, and we must restore God’s good name and His goodness back to His believers.

Father’s love gets you through the dangerous times

In one of my previous posts called No more Rules and Regulations I talked about the movie of the Sound of Music, and I want to write about it again.  For background info you can read the post called No more Rules and Regulations.  In that movie, Captain Von Trapp was the strict former Navy Officer who was the father of seven children who lost their mother.  So Maria, who was a Nun, who hadn’t learned, to be obedient, went to “grow up” and to “fulfill her calling and purpose” and to “find out who she really was”.  The father Captain Von Trapp who treated his children like military subjects was very strict with them causing them to rebel even more.  We can see this example in the Bible in the Old Testament, when the LORD tried to get Israel to obey Him, and they were always struggling, and they longed as Job said, “for a Mediator” to bridge the gap between the wrath of the LORD God, and himself.  But in the movie once, Maria came in and brought singing in the house, and reignited the love relationship to the children, then the Captain became softer toward the children and started treating them like his children, but the Captain still didn’t lose his identity, he just changed his affection towards the children.  So because of this affection towards the children and because when they received abundant love from him whereas before when they were so afraid of him doing something wrong that they wouldn’t have a relationship with him and just didn’t seem to have that closeness and just fear and everything else was based on fear that he would punish them so he couldn’t properly guide them in making wise decisions.   This is a type and shadow of the way the Father is in heaven, and how even during the dark and dangerous times He will help those whom he loves because of His nature.  The Captian in the movie is a type and shadow of the Heavenly Father in the sense that He is the same Father who With a little wrath I hid My face from you for a moment;
But with everlasting kindness I will have mercy on you,”
Says the Lord, your Redeemer.

So in the story the Captain helps them escape from the enemies during the Holocaust time because he had established their relationship with them, and now they were able to obey because of the unity of love, but when they thought he didn’t love them, they acted rebelliously and defiantly.  So it was needful for Maria to come in and show the example of love in their life because without her they didn’t seem to have any, and without that they couldn’t get through the difficult times.  So through the dangerous times in the last days, yes we know the times we are living in, and we know there is sin in the world, and the world is getting more wicked as the days come, but when you bring love into the picture, which is the greater Law, it changes the heart of the people so that they can sing, and there is nothing wrong with preaching about love and only love because that is what the Kingdom of God is about.  It is about faith, hope, and love and the greatest of these is love.

Because the Father loves you so much, He sent His son to die so that you might not die and have eternal life, but if you don’t accept that love and just view Him as someone who put you in a bad situation then the time that you are going through is going to be much harder.

Remember Brigitta – she was about 10-12 I don’t remember, but she was at that defiant age, and she was punished with a spanking and a chastening, but the true test came when they were in the prison when the enemy was coming for them and they had to go into hiding, and when they went into hiding and they had to depend on their father to tell them what to do.  This would not have happened if they had not developed the relationship of love with Maria.  Now Maria at the time was conflicted with the Baronness, and she had to struggle to at one point and lose her identity as a Nun, and have to face the fact of sinning against the ordinance, but the Reverend Mother realized that it was needful for Maria to go and do what her heart desires she said, “I want to love him, but I don’t want to love him” or something to that effect.  So then she had to take on the new role as a mother, and giving her a whole new set of responsiblities and finally bringing her into her calling.  Imagine if while the family were in hiding, that they were still afraid of their father, yes they would obey Him, but their fear would make the situations worse to the point where they would panic.  God is not like that He wants you to come to Him with love and not out of fear.  With love you gain respect and reverence, but not with fear.  You still have to treat him with dignity when He has his “uniform of the Captain or LORD of hosts on”, but you still know in your heart that He is your loving Father and that He loves you unconditionally.  Captain Von Trapp hated disobedience, and had been through many governesses, just like the Heavenly Father had many prophets to teach Israelites how to obey, but none of them lasted.  The disobedient children because they were not reminded of the love of the father always rebelled against the governesses, in the same way the disobedient Israelites came because they were not reminded of the love of the Father, so Jesus had to come and put Himself on the Cross for us so that we might have relationship with Him, and also to the Father, and for that His redeeming power is so great.  Love is what keeps the Holy Spirit alive in our hearts, and without the love of the Holy Spirit, then times will become very difficult.  We should rest in peace knowing that our Heavenly Father loves us no matter what is going on, even if we are in hiding.  When we hide, we hide in His presence and not away from Him.  We don’t turn away from Him.  We use the love that was sown in our hearts to make the best out of a bad situation.

At the end of the movie the Reverend Mother quoted Psalm 121-

I will lift up my eyes to the hills—
From whence comes my help?
My help comes from the Lord,
Who made heaven and earth.

He will not allow your foot to be moved;
He who keeps you will not slumber.
Behold, He who keeps Israel
Shall neither slumber nor sleep.

The Lord is your keeper;
The Lord is your shade at your right hand.
The sun shall not strike you by day,
Nor the moon by night.

The Lord shall preserve you from all evil;
He shall preserve your soul.
The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in
From this time forth, and even forevermore.

The word keeper and preserver here means to protect, and can also have an implication to seal as we are sealed with the promise of His Holy Spirit, which  will never leave us or forsake us no matter how many times we fall and disobey. But we must be careful not to grieve the Holy Spirit by not realizing how much the Father really loves us and how deep the Father really loves and in that we find our protection and our healing. The Holy Spirit is gentle, and He will not force you into anything, but God loves you so much that He is doing things for your protection even if you may not see it at times.  We must remember that perfect love casts out fear.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the grace, mercy, and love that you so generously showered over us for Your Word does say that Your stedfast love endures forever.  We repent for not following after Your Spirit at times and at times when we have not recognized the love that You have given us and we repent for not pursuing a relationship with you and growing in intimacy with you.  Thank You for helping us get through difficult time and Thank You for more and more revelations of You.  You are Jehovah Rapha and Jehovah Shammar and Jehovah Shavout, and You promised that Your stedfast love is forever as it says in Psalm 136 and Your Word does not lie, so then we accept Your love and walk this day in covenant with You so that we may see more of Your grace, mercy, and love, so then even when we are disobedient, that Your grace may abound more.  We accept this gift of grace and choose not to take in vain with licentious living but to live with a pure heart whose only desire is to have that wise Agape love that seeks out Your Kingdom Promises.  Thank You Lord,

IN JESUS MIGHTY NAME I PRAY,

Amen.

You are God’s beloved

This message is for Christians who have been born again and received salvation from our Father, and Son in the precious Lord Jesus Christ.  For those that are not Christians, and who have not received the promise then God is waiting for you to come to Him.

In 1 John 4:17 it says, Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world.

In Matthew 3:17 it says:  16 When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. 17 And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased

Once we receive the Spirit of God or the Holy Spirit, after receiving Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, our spirit becomes one with His spirit.  To explain this to people that might be new to Christianity, there are three parts to each person – there is the body, soul, and spirit.  The body is the external part of you, your hands, eyes, feet, nose, etc.  The soul consists of the mind, emotion, and will.  The spirit is the third part of the person.  The spirit once a person becomes born again, takes on a a new nature and becomes a new creation.

2 Corinthians 5:16 16 Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

We become a ransomed bride of Christ because He redeemed us with His blood, which He shed on the Cross, taking up all the sin, shame, and guilt, of everything that we have done, will do, or are doing because He is outside of time and He was crucified once and for all.

Because the Word of God says that Jesus was and is the Father’s beloved, then we too are the Father’s beloved because He truly cares for us, but what pleases God?  Is it your works, or what you do, or what you don’t do, or how you live your life?  No it’s your faith because the Word of God says that “Without faith it is impossible to please God.”

Hebrews 11:6

But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

“who diligently seek Him” comes from the Greek word ekzeteo and in this context it means to “seek the favor of God, or to worship.”

Blue Letter Bible. “Dictionary and Word Search for ekzēteō (Strong’s 1567)“. Blue Letter Bible. 1996-2012. 17 Apr 2012. < http:// www.blueletterbible.org/lang/lexicon/lexicon.cfm?
Strongs=G1567&t=KJV >

The word “faith” here is not the word, “faithfulness”, but comes from the wordpistis in Greek, and it means “the conviction that God is the creator and ruler of all things, provider and bestower of eternal salvation through Christ.”

Blue Letter Bible. “Dictionary and Word Search for pistis (Strong’s 4102)“. Blue Letter Bible. 1996-2012. 17 Apr 2012. < http:// www.blueletterbible.org/lang/lexicon/lexicon.cfm?

Sometimes we get bogged down and weighed down with sin and guilt that we can’t see why God created us.  We think He’s angry with us.  Jesus is living inside of the believers through the Holy Spirit and we abide in Him.  When we become born again our spirit becomes born inside of Him, and our spirit being becomes a part of Him.

John 3 says:

The New Birth

3 There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.”

Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?”

Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

Here’s what it says about abiding in Christ:

John 3:36

He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”

John 6:56

He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him.

John 8:31

[ The Truth Shall Make You Free ] Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed.

John 8:35

And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever.

John 12:46

I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness.

When you become born again you are entering into a marriage contract with Jesus.  To know the conditions of that contract, and to know what you are getting into you have to read the Word of God which is the Bible to discover the beautiful books of poems, the beautiful things it to say about your husband.  The wonderous ways that He is Jealous for your attention and your love.

When He was looking for you, He chose you, and out of His gentle gentle, Spirit, He could not force you into commitment with Him, so He said only if “this person is willing to take on my name,” then I will allow her to become part of Me. After He chooses you He is not going to let you go without a fight, and you will have to fight like a good marriage does to stay together despite all the rumors, and all the commotion that goes on all around, despite all the danger lurking in various places, despite everyone and everything around you or in you that calls Him, and what He has promised to you in His Word a lie.  You must fight to hold on to that relationship, and keep Him the center of your affections, no matter what happens to you.  He loves you so much, and sometimes He will just hide so that you can find Him all over again, but He is always within you and you are within Him.  So you can rest secure that if you belong to Him, He will keep you in the palm of His hand.  Even if you turn your back on Him, like Peter did, He’ll still love you, and He’ll always be willing to redeem you if you turn to Him, but if you can’t live with the guilt of what you did, then you might be digging yourself into a place that you don’t want to be in like Judas did.  But that is not God’s heart.  God’s heart is to let you know that you are Jesus’ beloved and he will treasure you.  That doesn’t mean that trials and testings and tribulation won’t come, but it means that not only do you put your trust in Him, but He also trusts in you and He knows you better than you know yourself because He is willing to forgive you in anything that you do.

For men who don’t want to be called a bride, which is just a symbolic to term to indicate intimacy, if you prefer you are also the sons of God.

From a greedy heart to a loving one

This has really been on my heart a while about the dangers of greed, and I wanted to share it earlier. In the process I changed my title.   I want to venture out and say that sin has different levels, and while I was preparing this message, the verse that someone commented on this blog became alive for me.  12 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:11

Imagine running a race, when a 100 pound weight vest on.  That’s what people do on the Biggest Loser.  They sometimes run these races and they have these weights of all the weight they used to weigh and as they are running the race they drop off the weights in these containers.  Similarly, in the Christian walk, we all have weights that are called sin, which so easily ensnare us.  Yes Jesus Blood has cleansed us from sin, and removed all past sin from us, but we are still not perfect like Him, so then we have this sin that so easily ensnares us, and one of them I want to talk about today is greed. Greediness is tied into selfishness.

We know the world has greed and it can be seen anywhere, the stock market, George Fontenellis, said “operates on fear and greed”.  The world does not know any better.  Whether Christians should invest in the stock market, is not the purpose of this post.  But we as Christians should be set apart and act differently, than the world, and sadly, we don’t see that within the body of believers.  Sometimes we pray for stuff and then we get it and then the next day it’s something else, and something else.  It is also tied to not having a grateful heart or a heart full of thanksgiving.  We are always wanting more and more and more to the point that we are not satisfied.  We are always asking this and that from God, and sometimes forgetting to “seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.”

We can also be greedy about love.  We want to have all the love to ourselves, and not want to share it.  We are in turn being selfish, and while God does know us, He wants us to recognize that we do have this area to work on.  The first step in problem solving is to identify the problem.  The Holy Spirit works with you to recognize the problem, and then He helps remove this weights of sin off our lives, if we let Him.  If we don’t let Him, then He can’t work in our lives.  We all have problems, and they need to be fixed, and Jesus is the Master of fixing problems, but often times He does not do it in the way we expect.  For example when He came to Israel, they expected Him, to become King and dismantle the political system and save the Jews from oppression by the Romans, but that was not what He was there to do.  He was there for a bigger purpose.  He had to commission His Kingdom, and set the process of transformation of lives to begin with.

Many people can have spiritual gifts and anointing, ministries, and the like, but unless they allow the Holy Spirit to work in their lives and remove the things that are keeping us from the glory to be revealed in us as it says in Romans 8, then all of that is in vain.  Unconditional love or Agape is the reason that Jesus died for us, and not just for our families, friends, and acquaintances, but for the whole world.  When we have this selfish greed in our heart it is keeping us from operating in the fullness of this Agape love, but since there are certain levels of greed operating in our lives, then we have to lay this sin upon the cross daily, and start renew and cultivate the love of the Holy Spirit operating in our lives.

What gets to me is when Paul says, “To be able to know what is the depth, and the height and the breadth of love, which surpasses all understanding”  We need to have more of this kind of love.  Greed is what makes people steal.  In 2 Kings 5:20 they talked about Gehazi who had greed, and the leprosy of Namaan clung to Gehazi.  Why?  Because He was not operating out of love.

This post is really not about tithing, or about money, or about possessions, but it’s about the character of God developing in you.  When you have this greed, or any sin, for that matter, it is like grime and it weighs you down so that you can’t run the race.  When you pray and you run to God to release the burden of the sin onto Him, and cast your cares onto Him, He allows it to work in your life, but you first have to surrender.

Many people think that once your saved, that’s it that you don’t have to change in anyway and that you can still be the same person, and that you cannot remove the old nature and to take on the new nature, but they don’t realize that this is all a process and a journey with many mountains and valleys, ups and downs.  Jesus is there to guide you through it all, and Thank God, for He is patient, kind, slow to anger, and merciful.  If it wasn’t for God’s mercy, we really would not be able to get away with all the stuff that we’ve gotten away with.

The power of redemption is to know what a sinner you were before, and to realize exactly what Jesus has done for you, so does that mean that once you have accepted you can continue to live in that way?  When you have redemption, not only has Jesus paid the price for your sin, but there is a transforming work inside of you that brings you from glory to glory so that you can be the shining example of victory that God has promised in your life.  Repentance, is not really just about saying I’m sorry, but like I said before, it’s about feeling remorse, and then turning, but as you turn it’s usually hard.  It’s where your faith comes in, and says if Jesus says that I can do it, then “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”, and in this context is where the verse is properly applied because the context is about knowing that whether abased or abound, you can be content.

Isn’t that all that we want?  To be content.  It is the true heart’s desire for us to be content and satisfied, but in essence we are always wanting more and more and we cannot seem to settle in one direction or another, but to have that steadfast contentment in our hearts, knowing that no matter what happens as long as we have Jesus, all is well.  I know it is hard, but we shouldn’t let others’ discontentment, which can lead to issues such as anger and greed get to us.  At the same time, we need to avoid being greedy and avoid all kinds of sin around us.  Yes Jesus has removed us from the guilt of sin, so we do not keep on needing to beat ourselves up about it, but we need to allow God to transform and change us by surrendering to Him, and it’s all a little by little.  The seed is there and we are going to change, if we have the right attitude about it, and are willing to change for God.  The problem comes when we think we have completely changed once we are saved, and then our minds don’t need constant renewing in the Word of God, or that our character needs to change to develop Christ-likeness.  Then we can appreciate the Grace of God that allows us to change into the image of God because He put that seed to love in our hearts.

Heavenly Father,

We know we are not perfect without You in our lives, and we thank You that You have given your precious saints, the ability to change and to become more like You.  Guard our hearts today from any kind of sin, which so easily ensnares us, and let us lay down any weight that keeps us from You Lord God.  Transform our hearts and make us into the pure likeness of Your Spirit, and guide us all into discernment Truth.  I seal this post with the Blood of Jesus and I ask you Lord to renew our hearts daily so that we may become more like You.  Mold us, like the potter molds the clay, and make us conform to Your image Lord God.  Wherever there is violence or anger spewing in anyone’s heart, remove that and change into love, and compassion, and mercy, and forgiveness.  Teach people humility, and to be loving and giving of their time, resources, and the gifts and abilities You have given them so that they may know how they can reach out to others.  Thank You for this beautiful day for we know that whether it is sunny, or windy, or rainy, or snowy, or thundering, or shaking, You are still God and the midst of it all.

In Jesus Mighty Name I pray,

Amen.

Perfect Love Casts out Fear

I need this message more than anyone I know.

Heavenly Father,

I pray that I am anointed to preach this WORD without fear, guilt, shame, or inferiority.  I pray for revelation and insight that will transform hearts and purify them as well letting them be able to receive the Truth of God’s Word.  I seal this post with the Blood of Jesus and let only what is suiting to Your purposes be fulfilled in me writing this post.  Give divine revelation and inspiration from the Holy Spirit.  Help me Holy Spirit not only to preach this WORD, but to see a transformation of my own life in this area.

In Jesus Mighty Name I pray,

Amen.

4 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world.

You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the worldThey are of the world. Therefore they speak as of the world, and the world hears them. We are of God. He who knows God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.

Verse 4 only applies to those people who have the Holy Spirit, which comes through accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.  Verse 6 points affirms the reading of the New Testament and validation of it.  The whole counsel of the Word of God is inspired by the Holy Spirit.  The He that is in you, is the Holy Spirit, and the he who is in the world is the devil.  We are coming into times when some people are going to start to be trampled on by what they believe and what we have believed before and thought was true and the very foundation that we were built on will be shaken.  So when you build your foundation on the rock, then you have solid footing and are able to face any circumstance that comes your way, but if your foundation gets tares along with the wheat, then only God can weed them out.

What is the foundation for the Christian faith?  Faith in Jesus.  This Faith is based on love.  Jesus said, “Be therefore perfect as your Heavenly Father is perfect”  Some people are bombarded with that statement.  How can I be made perfect?  How can I be like the Heavenly Father, who is so perfect and holy and people cannot stand to be in His Presence.  He is very holy, and how can we stand to be in His Presence?  Well the word there ‘perfect’ is from the word ‘teleios’ which is present tense. There is also the word ‘perfected’ which in the past tense is ‘perfected’.  For the sake of clarification  I’m going to bring out the verses backward.

1 John 4:20-21

Obedience by Faith

20 If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? 21 And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also.

It says here, brother, which means brother or sister in Christ.  I honestly believe that if you truly love God and possess the Holy Spirit you cannot hate your brother, or else you’ll end up feeling really bad.  You may not like what they do at all.  You may not understand why they do what they do.  You may see all the little things that they do, but you wouldn’t want to see harm in them.  You may want to set boundaries and space yourself away from them, but if they are in Christ and you are in Christ, you should make every effort to treat them the right way as to not dig yourself in to a bigger ditch and find yourself where it is even harder for you to be in that place with God.   This is how to put faith into action, and this is what is meant by James, ‘faith without works’ is dead.

1 John 4:17-20

The Consummation of Love

17 Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world. 18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. 19 We love Him because He first loved us.

Take a close look at vs. 17 where it says because as He is- that means as the Father as, so are we in this world.  When we go to God we should not be afraid, because when we are afraid then we are tormented.  The way that our love has been made perfect is that we may have boldness in the day of judgment.   If you love your father and you know you have done something wrong you should be able to come to him and tell him I’m sorry for what I did, and not be afraid that he is going to hit you because of it.  There is no fear in love because fear involves torment.  So what about Philippians 2:12 ‘work out your salvation with fear and trembling”?  When cross-referenced with 2 Corinthians 7:15, which says “15 And his affections are greater for you as he remembers the obedience of you all, how with fear and trembling you received him” a good Bible interpreter asks, “How can someone be afraid and trembling and receive them?”  So that means that it implies “excitement and respect”.  When you go to meet with God, there is a boldness knowing that you don’t have to be afraid.  In fact in this world if you’re a Christian there’s nothing to be afraid of, but we of course have fears and sometimes they are there for our protection, but according to these verses, you don’t have to be afraid of God’s judgment because that kind of fear brings torment, and not closeness with God.

Seeing God Through Love

12 No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us13 By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. 14 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as Savior of the world.15 Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. 16 And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.

So now that we know that we can enter in boldly to Throne of Grace, without fear of judgment, and if we with our hearts love our brothers and sisters in Christ, and also showing love for the lost, then His love has been perfected in us.  So then we can abide in God and God can abide in us.  The enemy will try everything from negative thoughts, to toxic emotions, dead and dry seasons, condemnation and guilt or anything at all to take us away from realizing that God loves us as verse 19 says.

Knowing God Through Love

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. 10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to bethe propitiation for our sins. 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

I’m going to express here again that this love is Agape, and it is the unconditional, self-sacrificing love which you can only get through Jesus Christ as it says in vs. 9.  It is not the kind of love between a boyfriend and girlfriend. Loving one another is the hardest thing to do.  Sometimes it flows so naturally out of us, and the other times it is so difficult. Forgiveness is the key to love.  Keeping this in the foremost of our heart that we need to love another and forgive them is essential.  You may not like what the person does, but don’t hate the person, or want to get back at the person.  Even if they are so wrong, the best thing you can do is pray for them.  Try to see the good in the person.  Try to see the best thing about the person you can find.

I want to say something to preachers, pastors, leaders, and teachers – You reap what you sow.  If you sow good seed, you’ll reap a good harvest, but if you sow bad seed, even the harvest that you have will dwindle away.  Bring words that build life and edify and build up the people.  Of course there are those that are called to rebuke, but there is a serious warning mentioned by Jesus:

LUKE 17:
Causing Others to Lose Faith—Matthew 18:6–10; Mark 9:42–50

1Jesus told his disciples, “Situations or (offense) that cause people to lose their faith are certain to arise. But how horrible it will be for the person who causes someone to lose his faith! 2It would be best for that person to be thrown into the sea with a large stone hung around his neck than for him to cause one of these little ones to lose his faith. 3So watch yourselves!

“If a believer sins, correct him. If he changes the way he thinks and acts, forgive him. 4Even if he wrongs you seven times in one day and comes back to you seven times and says that he is sorry, forgive him.”

In NASB it says:

1 He said to His disciples, “It is inevitable that stumbling blocks come, but woe to him through whom they come! 2 It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck and he were thrown into the sea, than that he would cause one of these little ones to stumble. 3 Be on your guard! If your brother sins, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him. 4 And if he sins against youseven times a day, and returns to you seven times, saying, ‘I repent,’ forgive him.”

If I have caused anyone to stumble in their faith, or been a stumbling block to anyone’s walk of faith, it was never my intention and I sincerely apologize.  I’m trying to still weed out the Truth from Lies and in my zeal for spreading the Gospel, I may abuse my position in order to get my insights out.  If I have brought guilt or condemnation to a new believer in Christ, then I sincerely apologize.  I myself am experiencing growing pains, getting out of the early years of a believer to going into the next stage, where everything shakes….but we need to hold on to the promises of God and for that we need to know what God says.

Please forgive me Matt Redman for posting your song lyrics here, but I am constantly reminded of this song at times when I think about Perfect Love Casts Out Fear –

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death
Your perfect love is casting out fear
And even when I’m caught in the middle of the storms of this life
I won’t turn back
I know you are near

And I will fear no evil
For my God is with me
And if my God is with me
Whom then shall I fear?
Whom then shall I fear?

(Chorus:)
Oh no, You never let go
Through the calm and through the storm
Oh no, You never let go
In every high and every low
Oh no, You never let go
Lord, You never let go of me

And I can see a light that is coming for the heart that holds on
A glorious light beyond all compare
And there will be an end to these troubles
But until that day comes
We’ll live to know You here on the earth

Yes, I can see a light that is coming for the heart that holds on
And there will be an end to these troubles
But until that day comes
Still I will praise You, still I will praise You
