Dangerous teachings about repentance

Repentance is a very sensitive issue in the body of Christ, and there is a way in which the message of the Gospel of Christ should be spread as not to harm the people.  We know we are to speak messages of repentance, which leads to sanctification, but the purpose of dying to yourself is not supposed to taken literally.  God loves you.  He created you and He knit you together in your mother’s womb.  For born again believers who are all at various stages of growth and some of them have reached a certain level of maturity and been through things where they can go and teach these kind of things, but you have to as one preacher said speak the truth in love.  You can speak the truth which is the Word of God, but you can be so harsh that it becomes unhealthy for the person, and they may be so desperate for God when they listen to you, and to see miracles happen in their life, and to have that implication that God doesn’t love them, and that God didn’t come to bring life and life more abundantly and that crush and wound the spirit so much.  There is a distinction between godly sorrow and sorrow of the world, but in the Church this line is getting thinner because people are getting so harsh, and yes there are people that need to change their lives, but when they are going through difficult times as we are going through now, we need messages of hope.  Millions of people are committing suicide everyday and some of them might even be Pastors, and yes some of them can’t live with their sin, and it’s so sad because God wants people to love, appreciate, and enjoy their life to their full.  Godly sorrow does not mean you hate your self, and you want your self to die, but there is a distinction between the flesh, soul, and spirit that needs to be drawn.  When you have these difficulties arising in times of crisis, and yes we do need to point out the laws for doing what’s right, but the greater Law is the Law of Love, and how much you love others.  Jesus said love God, and love your neighbors as you love yourself, so loving yourself is out of balance.  You might love God with all your heart, but if you don’t love yourself, then you can’t love your neighbor, so teaching people that the self is evil is very dangerous.  There is a method in preaching which involves understanding the makeup of a human mind, which will be transformed into God’s will, purpose and action, in a way that there is a sense of hope, encouragement, faith, and boldness, in knowing that godliness brings life to a person, and does not destroy the person, because the thief comes, to steal, kill, and destroy.

Now God may be testing your faith in some trials and obstacles, but when you need words of encouragement in the Body of Christ, you are sometimes bombarded with teachings about repentance, that don’t come to realize, that is a very slow process, and does not happen in an instant, and it is a life long process, that God takes one day at a time.  When you seek out God’s Word, first, and there will be obstacles, believe me, in trying to study God’s Word, but if all you can do is chew on God’s Word, and meditate on it, ruminate on it, and best of all don’t let people try to talk you out of this three part love cord, that you want not to be broken.  You want to see the best in people and it makes it hard when people you trust are crushing blow you down in the soul.  God is a restorer of the mind, and He binds up what has been broken, and he heals what has been hurt, but when people preach about this strict self denial it can defeat the purpose of God.  Paul said in Ephesians 6 that we are supposed to have the Gospel of peace,

Ephesians 6:15 talks about the Gospel of peace –

which is the word eirene in Greek and here is the meaning for it:

5) of Christianity, the tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and content with its earthly lot, of whatsoever sort that is

People are going through a lot of stress these days, and need to learn that God loves them, and when calling people to repenting for their sins, it is wise to speak the words very carefully and to analyze your audience.  If you have a television ministry, and you know many people are watching, you can cater the message in a way with your speech seasoned with salt, and if your salt loses its savor, then what can it be savored with?

Colossians 4:6 says –

Let your 5216 speech 3056 [be] alway 3842 with 1722 grace 5485,seasoned 741 with salt 217, that ye may know 1492 how 4459 ye 5209ought 1163 to answer 611 every 1538 man 1520.

So when teaching about repentance, I urge Pastors out there not to be so hard on them that it breaks their spirit, because with a worried, anxious, stressed, and depressed soul, which comes from the enemy trying to use people, even anointed pastors and teachers, and preachers of the Word of God it can become unhealthy and defeat the purpose of God.  Bring restoration and not condemnation.

For those people that are living in sin, won’t get convicted anyway because they don’t realize what they have done wrong, and those people who are born again, will go into a downward spiral when you begin to speak words of death into their lives that make them devalue who God created them to be.  We are sons of the King and we need to be treated as such, and not as worthless sinners, who are good for nothing.  We need to be treated with respect, and courtesy and kindness, and when you know there are times when you will be tested on what you might say to someone whether you are a minister who is leading people or whether you are a person who is being served under a minister or leader, restrain your mouth from speaking evil, and when you have spoken evil, God will forgive you and turn it around for good, but just as with wounds of the soul, they take time to heal, but the enemy’s plan is to keep you constantly down and defeated and discouraged so that you cannot see the light, and that’s the last thing you want.  So bring hope and treat all of God’s people as sons of the King.  When you have a grievance with someone then forgive them, and if it still bothers you then seek counsel and support from others because the Church, the Body of Christ, is a Body where we are all growing and learning how to seek the Lord and to nurture and grow in health, and the last thing we want to see is someone so crushed and vexed in their soul, because of abuse. But hey, if God can work through Joyce Meyer and Paula White, who went through abuse and hardship in their lives, then God has surely found a way out for you, and teach you from your own life experiences and the way He has finally created you to be the shining example of who you are in the Body of Christ.   Also you need to keep in mind that for people who haven’t learn to dig their own well, or in speaking terms, study the Bible for themselves, then the best thing you can do is use wisdom on how to feed them, and have more Word and less you, that is how to really bring more of Christ in your life.  You don’t need to explain it to them, they understand, now if you are exhorting someone the body of Christ in general, with a correction, then realize that some babies or immature Christians can’t eat steak.  It is wise to measure the consistency of the food you are feeding to the people at a time.  You want to give them enough to chew on and meditate on for the day, and when they have come to spiritual growth, then you will be able to bring in more meat as God allows, but even that must be seasoned with salt.

No Condemnation in Christ for Genuine Believers who walk after the Spirit

I want to sincerely apologize for any of my posts that have brought a sense of condemnation to anyone.  It was not my intention and I realized that I was trying to do Jesus’ job by trying to separate the wheat from the tares myself, when only He can do it.  At the same time, Ezekiel 3 says that if we don’t warn a person of their sins we will die with their blood on our hands.   Having the calling of a teacher of God’s Word is a heavy task, and as it says in James 3 that it should be entered into with wisdom, but we are all learning the profound truths of God’s Word, and more and more about Jesus everyday.  If anyone else does not get this word I will get it for myself, and I really need it.

Sometimes in the Christian walk we go through times of condemnation, where we are so hard on ourselves, and beat ourselves up, and refuse to accept the redemption of the Blood Covenant that Jesus died to give.  We are plagued with these lies that we are these sinners that are so unclean and so vile that God does not want to approach us because He is so holy.  It is true that He is holy and He hates sin, but the Blood of Jesus has redemptive power to cleanse us from all sin.  We are thoroughly washed in the Blood of the Lamb.  But there are times when we sin, and that’s when repentance comes into picture, but it’s the learning of repentance that is what it’s all about.  ACTS 11:18 18 When they heard these things they became silent; and they glorified God, saying, “Then God has also granted to the Gentiles repentance to life.”

Repentance is not saying “I am not worthy to be loved by You.  I am a reject.  I am an outcast.  I am a nobody.  I am so dirty.”  No, not by any means.  Repentance is about realizing who God is and His goodness, that He is merciful and that He loves you, and He loves you so much that He would give His life for you so that you wouldn’t have to be in pain.  He gave His life up for you so as not to see you cry in agony and feel like a reject or outcast.  When Moses was called to lead the Israelites out of bondage from Pharoah, he said, “I am a poor speaker, what if they don’t listen to me?”  He didn’t have confidence in who he was, and who God was that would enable him to speak the words that God had given him out of his mouth.  He doubted who he was, and he was the meekest man or the most humble man, or so it’s said.  But let me tell you who was the personfication of humbleness and that was Jesus who washed the disciples feet and at another time He announced His ministry boldly by declaring Isaiah 61 before the congregation.  Jesus knew who He was and as believers in Christ, we must know who we are.  We must know that despite everything, we are more than conquerors than Christ.

We are sometimes living like chickens when are born an eagles.  If an eagle is around chickens long enough and especially if it’s been there all it’s life, it will start to believe it’s a chicken, when it’s actually an eagle.  So many of us have become chickens, but instead we should be eagles.

We must also fight the good fight of faith.  Believe me there is someone out there who wants to make you into a puddle saying, “Lord, I don’t know if I can follow this Law or obey You completely.  I am a worthless sinner, and there is no way You will accept me into Your kingdom.  I am a lost cause.  Just forget about me.  I am beyond help.”  Until you are so much into a pit of despair that you can’t even begin to see Jesus even if you read the Bible so many times.  You may start out with a level of faith, which is the measure of faith, but that faith has to expand and grow and if it doesn’t then that’s when condemnation sets in.  When you have condemnation you are no good to anybody.  You can’t pray for others because you feel like you are worthless.  You can’t read the Word of God because you think that God is going to fry you because you feel like you won’t have the promise of eternity waiting for you.  Sometimes self-pity even creeps in and says, why don’t you just give up, but you see, friends, that this is all a fight.  It is a fight to the finish because it is a race that we run and we want to make it to the end.  Condemnation can happen to any believer at any time even those who through their spiritual walk have an intimacy with the Lord, but something about not knowing who God is and the Good News of His Kingdom causes you to lose hope and become discouraged in your souls.  When you begin to believe that everything around you has to change for you to experience joy then something needs to change.

The repentance for the Gentiles leads to life.  Jesus died so that we might have life and have it more abundantly.  This doesn’t mean having a huge house, many cars, an air plane, and material possessions- those things are an added benefit, but what’s really important is the quality of the life that emanates from spirit to soul to body.  When we experience condemnation sometimes our souls become grieved and we don’t know how to make peace with God and trust who He is.  We become overburdened with guilt to the point that we can’t take it anymore.  This is what happened to Judas, he couldn’t take what he had done to Jesus.  I’m not calling you a Judas.  I’m just saying that we don’t want to get to that point.  We want to be set free.  That’s why Paul was teaching so much about the Law.  Here’s what  he said in 1 Timothy 1:

5My goal in giving you this order is for love to flow from a pure heart, from a clear conscience, and from a sincere faith. 6Some people have left these qualities behind and have turned to useless discussions. 7They want to be experts in Moses’ Teachings. However, they don’t understand what they’re talking about or the things about which they speak so confidently.

8We know that Moses’ Teachings are good if they are used as they were intended to be used. 9For example, a person must realize that laws are not intended for people who have God’s approval. Laws are intended for lawbreakers and rebels, for ungodly people and sinners, for those who think nothing is holy or sacred, for those who kill their fathers, their mothers, or other people. 10Laws are intended for people involved in sexual sins, for homosexuals, for kidnappers, for liars, for those who lie when they take an oath, and for whatever else is against accurate teachings. 11Moses’ Teachings were intended to be used in agreement with the Good News that contains the glory of the blessed God. I was entrusted with that Good News.

His purpose in saying all these things that he did in the epistles was so that he could set free the conscience of the believers with a pure and sincere heart to those that were doing things that were not according to the ways of God.  Now certain people will put slime on my head just there. For those with heightened understanding will know what I am talking about.

For believers with a pure and sincere heart that follow God and that want to do what He says, and want to walk in His ways, and do not want to grieve Him, then there is no condemnation for them.  Jesus became sin, so why should we have to take it?  Why should we have to carry the burden of sin- those of us who believe in Him?

There are distinctions that have to be made though between Jehovah’s Witnesses, Mormons, and other apostates who have strayed away from the true teachings of God’s Word.  The indisputable facts are Jesus was born of virgin, that He died on a cross, was buried, and rose again the third day.  Those things are vital.  If you believe those you have what it takes to build your faith.  Faith is not just a head knowledge, but it is a heart transformation that also presents itself with power.

Romans 8 says –

There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus,[a] who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. 10 And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.

The same verses in God’s Word Translation:

1So those who are believers in Christ Jesus can no longer be condemned. 2The standards of the Spirit, who gives life through Christ Jesus, have set you free from the standards of sin and death. 3It is impossible to do what God’s standards demand because of the weakness our human nature has. But God sent his Son to have a human nature as sinners have and to pay for sin. That way God condemned sin in our corrupt nature. 4Therefore, we, who do not live by our corrupt nature but by our spiritual nature, are able to meet God’s standards.

5Those who live by the corrupt nature have the corrupt nature’s attitude. But those who live by the spiritual nature have the spiritual nature’s attitude. 6The corrupt nature’s attitude leads to death. But the spiritual nature’s attitude leads to life and peace. 7This is so because the corrupt nature has a hostile attitude toward God. It refuses to place itself under the authority of God’s standards because it can’t. 8Those who are under the control of the corrupt nature can’t please God. 9But if God’s Spirit lives in you, you are under the control of your spiritual nature, not your corrupt nature.

Whoever doesn’t have the Spirit of Christ doesn’t belong to him. 10However, if Christ lives in you, your bodies are dead because of sin, but your spirits are alive because you have God’s approval.11Does the Spirit of the one who brought Jesus back to life live in you? Then the one who brought Christ back to life will also make your mortal bodies alive by his Spirit who lives in you.

Even though Romans here is talking about the carnal or corrupt nature of man and the appetites of the flesh,  if you have a bad day and you eat a piece of chocolate cake, ice cream, or have a little bit too much chicken tikka masala or lamb curry, God does not want you to feel so bad about it that you go into an eating disorder just to prove a point that you want to honor Him.  God knows you.  God knows you so well.  He knows you so well that He knows what sin you were going to do when you do it.  Yes it was wrong for Eve to listen to the serpent and eat of that forbidden fruit, and it was wrong for Adam to pass blame onto Eve, but what’s even worse, is that they hid from God’s Presence.  He was right there and they didn’t run to Him because they didn’t feel worthy.  He had come to accept them.  He had come to accept them with open arms, but yet it in turn they ran because they were so scared.  God loves you so much, He gave His life after you.

There’s always a way out for every sin.  Every sin has a way out through the Blood Covenant of Jesus as long as you don’t blaspheme the Holy Spirit.  If you do it out of ignorance it’s ok, but if you do it intentionally when you know it’s not right because out of the wrong motive of the heart then that’s something else.

This whole time on earth throughout history God is looking for people who will love Him whole heartedly and will seek after His heart.  To yearn after His beauty and His majesty.  He doesn’t want people to be dismayed and discouraged.  But He wants people to repent and to receive forgiveness out of true humility.

But at the same time there is a warning because the times of the birth pangs are coming, and this is a time when people begin to see God’s judgments to come upon the Earth in the forms of natural catastrophes, and those are the times to trust God.  Because when you come down to it, all you have is Jesus, and you have to know that you have Jesus and He loves you and He doesn’t want to see you hurt.

Heavenly Father,

I pray that you touch the hearts of the people and let them see what a loving and kind and merciful Father you are to them.  Heal the Orphaned spirit, and the spirit of rejection upon the believer’s lives.  Give them life and and life more abundantly.  Give them hope and hope for the everlasting.  Cause them to surrender to You completely and totally to Your will and let them know the plan and purpose You have for their lives.  Cause them to see the light of Your Truth, and give them fresh rhema everyday.  Cause them to see everything beautiful about You.  Let them see that they are loved beyond measure, and that even for unbelievers Your heart reaches out to them so that they may receive the Truth that Jesus died for our sins.  Forgive us Lord if we have strayed away from Your Spirit today, and bring us back to Your fold so that we may see the beauty of Your majesty.  Forgive us Lord if we have not obeyed.  Cleanse us with Your blood today and create in us a clean heart and renew a right Spirit within Your precious saints who long to follow You.  Grant us all wisdom and encouragement and hope to see the everlasting and eternal hope and salvation we have in You.  I thank You for the special anointing You have given me to preach this Word, and may it bring life to those who hear it.

In Jesus Mighty Name I pray,

Amen.

Dangers of being a false teacher

I would like to start off this post by saying that whatever you hear from anyone whether it be me, or your pastor, or anyone on the pulpit, search out the Scriptures and be like the Bereans instead of the Thessalonians and with the instruction and guidance of the Holy Spirit search out things for yourself.  When I was reading this chapter in the Bible – 2 Peter 2 – I had to come into real repentance and at the end of this post there is going to be a prayer for anyone who has misled the congregation, or has failed to see things in a proper light, or whose sins have led people astray or led people to be abused and victimized by their words or actions.  This is my way of a public confession.  Now I know that God does not see my sin, and He sees me as righteous and perfect and holy, but I am also responsible because I am a leader by means of this blog and the people that read it, and I don’t want this to weigh on my conscience in the future if I haven’t come to the Cross and laid my mistakes and failures all down and let Jesus restore and pick up the pieces wherever I have gone wrong and cleanse me with His Blood.  This is also a reminder to those people who are called to be teachers for Christ, that they don’t get pulled away into becoming false teachers or prophets.  Keep yourself on guard against these things:

 Destructive Doctrines

2 But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction. And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed. By covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words; for a long time their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction does[a] not slumber.

Doom of False Teachers

For if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to hell and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment; and did not spare the ancient world, but saved Noah, one of eight people, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood on the world of the ungodly; and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, making them an example to those who afterward would live ungodly; and delivered righteous Lot, who was oppressed by the filthy conduct of the wicked (for that righteous man, dwelling among them, tormented his righteous soul from day to day by seeing and hearing their lawless deeds)— then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment, 10 and especially those who walk according to the flesh in the lust of uncleanness and despise authority. They are presumptuous, self-willed. They are not afraid to speak evil of dignitaries, 11 whereas angels, who are greater in power and might, do not bring a reviling accusation against them before the Lord.

I’d like to stop here for a second – How many of us including myself, have spoken something bad about some pastor along the time?  How many times have we spoken evil against someone who is in a Church elder?  There are people out there who have abused their position of authority and participated in lustful and abusive acts – there were men who abused the young girls and quoted the Bible for reasons why they should do it.  There are men and women that have led the pulpit but denied their natural form of use.  But in all cases whatever the sin is for the person, we shouldn’t remember or it recall it, but warn people against it and this passage says that the angels are afraid to speak evil of dignitaries, even so, we should not speak evil against anyone, especially against authorities.  (refer to Touch not the Anointed post)

Depravity of False Teachers

12 But these, like natural brute beasts made to be caught and destroyed, speak evil of the things they do not understand, and will utterly perish in their own corruption, 13 and will receive the wages of unrighteousness, as those who count it pleasure to carouse in the daytime. They are spots and blemishes, carousing in their own deceptions while they feast with you, 14 having eyes full of adultery and that cannot cease from sin, enticing unstable souls. They have a heart trained in covetous practices, and are accursed children. 15 They have forsaken the right way and gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness; 16 but he was rebuked for his iniquity: a dumb donkey speaking with a man’s voice restrained the madness of the prophet.

17 These are wells without water, clouds[b] carried by a tempest, for whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever.[c]

When I was reading this, I was like, “Woah, I wouldn’t want to be one of these people!!!”  Imagine the blackness of darkness forever.  They speak evil of things they do not understand and are spots and blemishes (We are called to be a spotless and bride without blemish)- There are people out there like that have eyes full of adultery – (Even if you look at a person with lust in your heart then you have committed adultery with them)  This reminds me of a Jezebel spirit which Jesus talks about in Revelation – “having eyes full of adultery and that cannot cease from sin, enticing unstable souls.”  These are people with seducing spirits and need deliverance or help to be set free if they are willing, but so often people are not willing or too ashamed to admit their mistakes.  You’ve got to admire celebrities that admit this problem, but then they don’t turn to Jesus for help, so then where is their healing from this situation.  These Jezebel or seducing spirits have forsaken the right way and gone astray, and followed the way of Balaam the son of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness, but he was rebuked for his iniquity.  This particular passage in 2 Peter refers back to Revelation 3.

Deceptions of False Teachers

18 For when they speak great swelling words of emptiness, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through lewdness, the ones who have actually escaped[d] from those who live in error. 19 While they promise them liberty, they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by whom a person is overcome, by him also he is brought into bondage. 20 For if, after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning. 21 For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them. 22 But it has happened to them according to the true proverb: “A dog returns to his own vomit,”[e] and, “a sow, having washed, to her wallowing in the mire.

“Swelling words of emptiness” – I hope my words have not been empty, I believe they were inspired by the Holy Spirit.  Now that brings up an interesting point, there are pastors that “promise liberty”, but are slaves of corruption-

The Message says it like this –

17-19There’s nothing to these people—they’re dried-up fountains, storm-scattered clouds, headed for a black hole in hell. They are loudmouths, full of hot air, but still they’re dangerous. Men and women who have recently escaped from a deviant life are most susceptible to their brand of seduction. They promise these newcomers freedom, but they themselves are slaves of corruption, for if they’re addicted to corruption—and they are—they’re enslaved.

20-22If they’ve escaped from the slum of sin by experiencing our Master and Savior, Jesus Christ, and then slid back into that same old life again, they’re worse than if they had never left. Better not to have started out on the straight road to God than to start out and then turn back, repudiating the experience and the holy command. They prove the point of the proverbs, “A dog goes back to its own vomit” and “A scrubbed-up pig heads for the mud.”

There are definite dangers of backsliding and falling away and losing your crown- I would like to believe like some pastors do in Once Saved Always Saved, but the Scripture does have teaching that says that it is possible to be saved and then return back to your old ways, especially when people receive the “Promise of Liberty”, but they themselves are slaves to corruption.  After the first few years I was born again, I experienced some “backsliding” because I was constantly going in and out of churches and not able to find a home church so I do now that even after you’ve been baptised you can still lose your way, but the wonderful thing is that sometimes God will just give you a big wake up call, to where you’ve hit rock bottom, and then you will find your way back, and some people never have the chance to do that and are called before their time, but He is merciful to all.

Romans 11:32-

32 All people have refused to obey God. And He has put them all together as people who don’t obey Him so that he can show mercy to everyone. (ERV)

Isn’t that relieving, knowing that despite the pressure of having to live up to be obedient to God even in ways when we haven’t been loving or followed His nudgings, or guidance, that He has mercy on everyone!!  Praise be to God, for His throne is exalted forever.

Here is a Prayer for people that have led people astray through their teachings:

Heavenly Father,

I come humbly before Your Throne of Grace, knowing that You are exalted and high above the earth and that Your very Kingdom rules and reigns with authority.  If I have anyway abused, neglected, manipulated, people or Your pulpit, then please forgive me and cleanse me with the Blood of Your Son Jesus, and cleanse away all impurities out of my mind, and heart and wash me in that precious Blood.  Help me to proclaim the Truth to the people, which is Jesus Christ, and declare the Word of God, with the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and help me not to backslide and slip away like a “dog that turns back to it’s own vomit”.  Lord I know Your ways are merciful and kind, gracious and wonderful, that You will keep the works that are good, and burn away the dead works, but more than that it is by believing upon the name of Jesus and how Jesus has kept us free from sin, that keeps me wanting to share the Good News, and Yes, it is Good News.  For all the times that I have not listened or obeyed, Thank You for having mercy and patience with me.  Thank You for helping.  Give me a fresh start and wisdom to seek after You.  In Jesus Mighty Name I pray, Amen.

Touch not the anointed

1 Chronicles 16:22 mentions not to touch the anointed.  The anointing of God is a very special thing in a person’s life.  Once a believer becomes born again, and they are put into a position of preaching and sharing the gospel, they are endowed with spiritual gifts.

15 So David said to Abner, “Are you not a man? And who is like you in Israel? Why then have you not guarded your lord the king? For one of the people came in to destroy your lord the king. 16 This thing that you have done is not good. As the Lord lives, you deserve to die, because you have not guarded your master, the Lord’s anointed. And now see where the king’s spear is, and the jug of water thatwas by his head.”

There can be serious consequences for interfering with someone’s anointing, and when you do that it is good to repent for anything you might have done out of vengeance in ministry in order to allow God to justify you out of His wrath.  We are all washed with the blood of Jesus when we accept Christ alone as the only way to get to heaven, and when we apply this to our sins, God forgives us, but there will be consequences, but God is so merciful He can use it for His advantage.

The anointed can refer to – Kings, Priests, and Christ Himself – and also Pastors or shepherds.  Now I am particularly talking about anyone that has a spiritual gift, whether that be writing, preaching, healing, or the many other giftings, but especially Pastors because they are called to be Pastors.  No Pastor is perfect, not television pastors, not pastors at the local church, and no one in ministry is perfect, so if they have said something to offend you – (I must admit I was offended by a television pastor’s remarks, hence the last post), but I made that mistake and I repented for it, and I realize now that positions of authority, any kind of authority have been given room for error.

That goes for presidents (modern day kings) as well.  We may think that the  people have voted for the president, and that may be true, but they wouldn’t be voted for without God’s permission without the perfect planning of God’s prophetic timeline.  But that does not negate free-will – we make the choice, but God has the final say in who is going to be president.  In America sometimes leaders don’t understand Biblical foundations and the consequences, so they will be prone to error, but all people should be subject and respectful to their leaders, even when their leaders are wrong according to Romans because in that way you are honoring God.  That doesn’t mean that if your leaders are wrong you just do what they say, but like Daniel with Nebuchadanezzar – He called upon the wisdom of God so dependently that it got him out of very difficult circumstances.

This generation is looking for the true sons of God who are people like Daniel in this generation who have the wisdom it takes to seek out God, and to live according to His plans and purposes and put right the presence of the Holy Spirit and the people who are going to back to sound Biblical truth which is well balanced and not an extreme on any case, but holds fast to the Truth, which is the Word of God.  We may not be there yet, but God is preparing the true sons (and daughters) of God for the last days. (ref. Romans 8:19)

Jesus says in the last days the love of many will grow cold and many will be offended.  As a Church we must not get offended by anyone or anything, and that takes spiritual maturity – we are all at different levels of growth and some people with more soul issues get offended more easily, but the truth is that we are all in a growth process.  When we are the point where we are ripe then we will be ready to be harvested as the true wheat and have the tares sifted out.

Leaders, especially Pastors are under a lot of pressure to get the body of Christ lined up properly, and they don’t always have time to get everything correct.  Many of them have personal family times and children they need to take care of, and they have sheep that they have to take care of and counsel and guide.  (ref. John 21)

So you should pray for leaders and other positions of authority over you and have respect for them, and when they abuse their position of authority if you pay them back with kind words and a blessing, then you will reap coals on their heads.

In Bible study we were discussing the prospect of seeking your own vengeance, and doing it by using the Bible or prayer claiming things like Psalm 35, to pray against people, which is the wrong application of Psalm 35.

So this message is short – if anyone has hurt you, and it doesn’t necessarily have to be a Pastor, but it can be anyone in authority or not, and I am sure you have been hurt because everyone has been hurt, angry, frustrated, distressed, or burdened by someone at least once in their life, if not every once in a while or on a regular basis – forgive them.

Heavenly Father,

Forgive us for any grievances we hold or have held against positions of authority.  Forgive us for any acts of knowing or unknowing behavior or attitudes that we may have against them.  Guide us and protect our hearts and seal them with the blood of Jesus.  If there any sin that is weighing our conscience right now, cleanse it with the blood of Jesus and let us be made whole.  Cause us not to take any actions of lawlessness against anyone.  Give us wisdom on how to interact with people and help us guard our mouth.

In Jesus Mighty Name I pray,

Amen.

Liberation of Repentance, and the Presence of God

A lot of people look at repentance as a bad thing, and of course it is better not to have to repent, but because we are all fallen we need to be able to go to God and say, “Daddy, I know I was wrong, will you please forgive me?  Help me not to do it again.”  When Adam and Eve were in the Garden  and they sinned, they hid from the Presence of God.

Genesis 3:8 –  8 They heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the [c]cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden. 9Then the LORD God called to the man, and said to him, “Where are you?” 10 He said, “I heard the sound of You in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid myself.”  Now don’t go running around naked please.

But the wonderful thing now through the Precious Blood of Jesus, is that we can run to Him and say, “I know I was wrong, please forgive me.”  God is merciful and just to forgive.

One time I was at a prayer meeting and I had a heaviness because I felt guilty about something and I couldn’t experience the release of the Presence of God, but through the unction of the Holy Spirit led by the worship leader, who repented on behalf of the Church, there was a tremendous release from all the burdens.  It was coming again to the point of the Cross and saying, “Lord, I surrender, I surrender all my burdens, griefs, pains, and sorrows, down at your feet.  You take them away.”

In the Tabernacle example there is a model – there is the Outer Court, Inner Court, and the Holy of Holies.

When you are in the Outer court, which is the first part after the gate to the worship, you have the bronze altar.  Before that is that the gate and that’s where you enter.  You enter with praise and thanksgiving.  Then the second stage is the Cleansing or self examining at the bronze altar. I am not going to go in to the details of the tabernacle just yet, but maybe in the future post I will share.

When we sin, God doesn’t want us to run away from Him, but to run to Him, but somehow because we have been believing lies, the devil tries to  make us believe that God won’t accept us or love us if we do sin.  That doesn’t mean that we keep on sinning.

Romans 9:16 says – 16 It does not, therefore, depend on human desire or effort, but on God’s mercy.

That brings me to my second point –

1) Liberation in the Word of God

Even though there is liberation in repentance,  or turning your heart towards God, and away from the sin, there is even more liberation in knowing that the Word of God has all the answers for the troubles you are facing.  I once listened to a sermon called, “The only way out is the Word of God”, and the person said the Word of God brings in the Presence of God as well.  It is better to be obedient to God and not have to repent, because Romans 3:6 says that the wrath of God is coming on those who are disobedient.  But in context it is talking about Christians who are earthly minded –

1 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. 3 For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is your[a] life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

5 Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. 6 Because of these, the wrath of God is coming.[b] 7 You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. 8 But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. 9 Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices 10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. 11 Here there is no Gentile or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all.

One thing that God hates the most is idolatry – putting something whether that be a molded image, like the hindus and buddhists use, or anything that keeps us from the presence of God, and the people that participate in idolatry, will be stored up for God’s wrath because in idolatry it leads to many sins.  God is a Jealous God because He wants us to love Him completely and not lift up anything before Him including ourselves.

Ephesians 5:1-13 says –

1 Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children; 2 and walk in love, just as Christ also loved[a]you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God [b]as a fragrant aroma.

3 But immorality [c]or any impurity or greed must not even be named among you, as is proper among[d]saints; 4 and there must be no filthiness and silly talk, or coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks. 5 For this you know with certainty, that no [e]immoral or impure person or covetous man, who is an idolater, has an inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.

6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. 7 Therefore do not be partakers with them; 8 for you were formerly darkness, but now you are Light in the Lord; walk as children of Light 9 (for the fruit of the Light consists in all goodness and righteousness and truth), 10 [f]trying to learn what is pleasing to the Lord. 11 Do not participate in the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but instead even [g]expose them; 12 for it is disgraceful even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret. 13 But all things become visible when they are [h]exposed by the light, for everything that becomes visible is light.

What is the opposite of empty words(words that are void of truth):  The Living Word, which is the Word of God, and He gives you the Grace to reveal the Word to you in that time of need.  That is if you set apart time to study and to pursue His presence or to dedicate your life to Him.  Lately I have been finding that I just open the Bible and God leads me to a verse that immediately applies to my situation and sometimes gives me a rebuke, or something I need to repent for, or gives me a sense of encouragement knowing that He has equipped me for whatever battle I need to face.  Part of the armor of God is the loin belt of Truth – without the loin belt of Truth you cannot have intimacy with God, because it protects your intimate organs from being attacked.  That is to be used in the Soldier analogy.  I think there is more teaching on the Armor of God on one of my posts.    I know some of us are busy with work and don’t have the time to really get in the Word of God so much, and I know I have said it does not need to be out of obligation, but God has a remarkable way of rescuing you with His Word, and sometimes it is as much as flipping a page and then find just what you need.  I was told once not to play Bible roulette, where you just open up the Bible, and the first verse that pops out at you, apply it to yourself.  But the amazing thing is that the Word of God has so much power because it can become a rhema or revelation and not just a letter or logos even if you just open the one page.  Discipline in studying the Bible is important characteristic trait to develop, not because of obligation but because of getting to know Jesus more and more.  So studying the Bible can bring revelation and that revelation can bring liberation.  After all isn’t life all about revelation knowledge of Jesus and who He is?  Whether you get it by youtube songs, or by a worship service, or by the Word of God- the whole point is to get to the presence of Jesus.

So what is the Presence of God –

The Holy Spirit can hover upon, rest upon, and reside within a believer.  When a believer is born again the Holy Spirit resides within the person.  When God created the Heavens and the earth, the Spirit of God hovered upon the waters – Gen. 1:2- The Spirit of God can rest upon a believer where the person can actually experience a sense of “abiding under the shadow of the Almighty” – that is the resting upon.  In Luke it says that the Holy Spirit will overshadow her.  When you are dwelling in the Presence of Almighty, that is when the Holy Spirit is resting upon you.

The key thing about Christianity is that it is not a religion filled with rituals that you must do this and you must do that.  It is about a journey full of mountains and valleys, and there are lessons to be learned, tests to take, and relationships to build with God and with other people.  Sometimes the devil comes in tries to beat you up and make you feel like you are condemned, but you don’t have to listen to it.  The more we feel condemned it means that God has not completed the restoration of our souls and He is waiting for you to come to Him.  He is reaching out to you to turn to Him, to change your mind against idolatry and disobedience, to take up your cross, or whatever is keeping you to fully worship and enjoy Him.  When we work, we can still keep Him in our thoughts – if we work in retail, we can think, “How can I be a light today?”, if we work for an electric company, we can focus on “the Light of this world”, if we work for an insurance company, we can focus on, “What is the best insurance policy?”; if we work with manufacturing, we can focus on “God created the heavens and the earth.”, if we work with computer programming, we can focus on, “God gave a marvelous code of instructions on how this world should work”, if we work with filing, we can focus on, “How wonderfully organized God is”, if we work in media we can thank God for how the media has been used to share the Gospel, etc.

Jesus said, “my yoke is easy and my burden is light” so the more we focus on the Cross of Christ, the easier it will be for Jesus to lay down the burdens that so easily ensnare us and to break all the chains.

Here is a prayer for protection for inviting the presence of God into your life,

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for revealing to me more about Yourself everyday in the way You see fit.  Thank You for taking complete and total charge over my life and having the mercy upon me that despite the times I disobey in little things, you are always quick to forgive.  Thank you for being the loving arms that hold me and embrace me when times are hard or difficult.  Thank You for letting me know that You are always there for me.  Please remove from my life any area where I am displeasing to you, or anything that gets in the way of sharing our love together.  Thank You for the abundant mercy, grace, and love You have showered over my life.  Thank You for picking up the pieces.  Thank You for giving me the strength to get through anything.  You are precious to me, and I love you.

In Jesus Name I pray,

In the same Spirit, I pray for the people in America who have been devestated by tornadoes.  Please help the victims recover from their damages, and I repent on behalf of the nation for anything that they are doing to displease You LORD God, for You are holy and righteous, and you cannot tolerate sin, please show them Your mercy, and Your love so that they can see that You are not a God of anger, but a God of mercy and that You are willing to forgive America for anyway that it has missed the mark or caused an abomination or a lie.  You rule over the nations in the world and anyone that needs Your help right now, please protect them and put Your hedges of protection around them, and I apply the Blood of Jesus over this nation.  Let us all come back to the Cross of Surrender,

In Jesus Mighty Name I pray,

Amen.
