Heaven, Hell, Jesus, and the Bible

“Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.”  Matthew 24:35

Today on ABC – Barbara Walters repeated an interview about Heaven and Hell with many celebrities and well known figures and some not well known figures about about Heaven and Hell.

The Bible says –

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend[a] it. (John 1:1-5)

There are so many theories and speculations about what heaven and hell     This is what is called man’s wisdom.  You cannot find out about Heaven or Hell or God by watching an interview.  Yes it may be entertaining, but in reality we are all searching for what is the Truth?

The Bible makes it clear – Jesus is the Truth, the Way, and the Life.

13 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 Because[a] narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.- Matthew 7:13-14

An explanation of Heaven as it is known in the Bible –

1) First Heaven – the sky or firmament

2) Second Heaven – what we like to call outer space

3) Third Heaven – is something we cannot see where Jesus sits at the right hand of the Father and is described in the Book of Revelation and also in the book of Ezekiel.

I cannot argue Heaven or Hell or Jesus with someone who does not take an act of faith and come to the point that all of life is meaningless without Jesus.  This takes the Holy Spirit to reveal who Jesus is.

You cannot get to Heaven by being a good person – because none of us are good.  Nobody, no one, not anyone anywhere is good, there is no one.  Whatever good you think you may have done it is nothing.  You cannot earn a place into Heaven by doing good deeds.  It takes the life changing influence of Jesus Christ as the only way to inherit eternal salvation or the right to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven because there is no one righteous not even one.  Whatever good deeds or rituals or ceremonies that we have done, nothing will enable to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven because it was only purchased through the Blood of Jesus.  He took the worlds sins, and yes everyone sins everyday.  No matter what man or angel or any other being from heaven or on earth says –  Jesus is superior to them all, and He is the only way to the Heavenly Father, who is so bright that looking at Him could kill you because His power is an uncountable more times than electricity.  In fact in the Old Testament He revealed Himself as a cloud by day and fire by night, and even if you’ve been the worst thunderstorm you cannot begin to understand the magnitude of the God of the Bible.  The only way to know this God is through Jesus Christ, and it takes a personal revelation from Him, Himself to you so you can go ahead and watch all the interviews of all the people, but in the end, you are going to have to take an act of faith and search out God for yourself.

I found Jesus through renouncing Hinduism because of heavy demonic activity.  In fact the only thing that saved me from insanity was the prayer of a friend to the Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus.  Before that God was so distant and far away.  Now He’s so close and He gives me revelation of who He is.  He is a God of love, compassion, of Holiness.  Nobody is perfect, I don’t care who you say you are – whether you’re Dalai Lama, Mahatma Gandhi, or Mother Theresa, unless you have Jesus your works don’t mean anything.  It’s only after you’ve been saved, and this is a daily practice of believing in Jesus, working out your salvation with fear and trembling or awe and reverance and then portraying the fruits of the Holy Spirit, and the Word of God, which is Jesus and also the Bible revealed through the Holy Spirit and a daily repentant heart and turning away from your sin with the Help of the the Holy Spirit.  Unless you have Jesus you always find other things, other idols, be it money, pleasures, signficant others, and something else to satisfy, but Jesus is the Bread of Life, and whoever eats of Him will not hunger or go after things that don’t really matter in life.

There are 10 commanments:

You shall not have other gods

You shall not make any graven images

You shall not take the name of the LORD in vain

You shall observe the Sabbath (Saturday)

You shall“Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you.

You shall not murder.

You shall not commit adultery.

You shall not steal.

You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

You shall not covet your neighbor’s belongings or wife or husband.

Most of those have broken those things, but lets say you haven’t.  There are 603 others, and you would not be able to fulfill them at all, that’s why Jesus had to become the curse of the Law. When you believe in Him, you are released from the Law, and the curse of the Law, but then you have to follow the Holy Spirit, who lives in your heart and gives you that tugging feeling to let you know whether you want to accept Him or not.  If you experience that tugging feeling in your heart, and you want to accept Jesus into your heart because He is the one who will comfort you when you cry, He is the one who holds your hand, He is the one that is always with you when you are down, and He forgives you because He died for you.  No other person died for you.  Yes other people died, but He is the only one that died specifically for you, and for the rest of the world just so that He would have a relationship with you and even if you were the only person on earth He would have died for you.  Not only did He die for you in a gruesome horrible death and was buried in a dark tomb,  but He actually showed up physically after He died, and ate, then went up to Heaven, the real Heaven.   This is not something that can be thought with the mind, it is something that is revealed in the heart and it takes a risk of faith to say, I choose to accept You Lord as my Savior. He and I are not going to force you to believe, we can just warn you, but the thing is that don’t be afraid that if you don’t believe you will go to Hell, but go to Him because of this awesome love and forgiveness of everything that you’ve ever done.  We all have this trash in our lives that He has to take out, and He is willing to give you a brand new start and a clean slate, and wipe it clean, and whatever chalk stains you get on the blackboard of life, He is willing to wipe them clean every day if you say,  “You know what I am wrong in this.”  He will teach you lessons and He will speak to you through His Word.  This is special.  I didn’t have this before I knew Jesus.  Before I knew Jesus and I mean really knew Jesus I was searching for things that could not satisfy.  It’s  a process of life that we have to work at, but Jesus helps us everyday and you are never alone.

You really don’t know how long you have, so be prepared.  Jesus is coming any time soon, and whoever reads this, if you feel a conviction to believe in Jesus say,

Heavenly Father,

I know that I am a sinner, and I know that I cannot live life except without your grace, and I have done many things wrong in my life, but I would like to know You and this God who can change my heart and turn me into a new creation, and work with me to wipe my slate clean everyday and walk with me through life during all the hard times, and all  the rough times, so that we may go through this journey alone and that I can learn to trust in You.  I want to experience Your Love, and Joy, and Peace, in a world that just seems to be falling apart.  You know how many times I have failed, and You have been there to pick up the pieces even though I couldn’t see it.  I want to accept You as my Savior and regardless of what happens to me, I want to serve You.  Teach me how to fall desperately in love with You and help work to refine and change me to be more and more like You everyday.

In Jesus Mighty Name I pray,

Amen.

Chasing after the anointing

Sometimes Christians get lazy in their spiritual walk.  They don’t want to do their homework, they don’t want to put in the effort so they seek people that will tell them what they want to hear.

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.  2 Timothy 4

The Gospel is Good News, that Jesus died for us and that He rose again and that we are saved through belief in Him.  But some of us may be carried away with something that sounds good, and is too good to be true.

It is like a counterfeit dollar bill, and it is a very close match to the original.  There is only one original, the Word of God, but unless you hold it up to the light you cannot see the markings of the true dollar bill.  Instead you have all these forgeries when you hold it up to the light they show nothing.  They are fake and very deceptive.

How can you tell what is the Dollar Bill from the counterfeit?  You hold it up to the light and you hold the counterfeit up to the light and all the other counterfeits and then the one that has the marking of the true dollar bill is the one and you can use that to purchase in spiritual terms your inheritance, but the other ones are useless and pointless.

Have you ever seen the show – “To Tell the Truth?”  That’s where you have three people who all claim to be the same person, but only one is the real one, and by asking a series of questions they have to determine which is the real one.  That’s what we have to do as Christians, we must not believe everything and everyone we hear, and we must guard our eyes and looking for the real Jesus and not some fake.

How can we tell if we are choosing the right one?

2 Thessalonians 2

Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things? And now you know what is restraining, that he may be revealed in his own time. For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He[d] who now restrains will do so until He[e] is taken out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming. The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, 10 and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, 12 that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Lawlessness is not so much about whether or not to follow the Torah, but is more about not having a repentant life before God.  When you sin, God hates it, and when He sees the Son, the blood of Jesus washes over the sin.

Hebrews 10 says –

26 For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries. 28 Anyone who has rejected Moses’ law dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29 Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace? 30 For we know Him who said, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,”[e] says the Lord.[f] And again, “The Lord will judge His people.”[g] 31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

2 Timothy 2 says –

14 Remind [the people] of these facts and [solemnly] charge them in the presence of the Lord to avoid petty controversy over words, which does no good but upsets and undermines the faith of the hearers.

15 Study and be eager and do your utmost to present yourself to God approved (tested by trial), a workman who has no cause to be ashamed, correctly analyzing and accurately dividing [rightly handling and skillfully teaching] the Word of Truth.

16 But avoid all empty (vain, useless, idle) talk, for it will lead people into more and more ungodliness.

17 And their teaching [will devour; it] will eat its way like cancer or spread like gangrene. So it is with Hymenaeus and Philetus,

In this context Hymnaeus and Philetus were people who said that the resurrection of the dead is past.   But the same can be said of all these preachers that are on television – not all of them, but a lot of them are not preaching what is sound doctrine, and anything that preaches against having an unrepentant heart and people that seek after gain, are deceiving.

From my experience you must test to see what kind of fruit bears in their life.  Of course none of us are there yet, we are all at different levels of maturity.  The anointing they have to preach is not the same as the person, especially if they are trained in being an instructor of the Word.

Some of them are eloquent speakers, and don’t we know our mistake with an eloquent speaker.  Do their lives bear fruit – are they seeking after the Kingdom of God.  Have they laid themselves down at the altar and taken up their Cross, and crucified their passions and desires of the flesh, if not then they may still have some work to do.  I am not talking about the average person who has not been thoroughly trained to be in ministry.  They deceive you with lying signs and wonders but as 2 Peter says, “They go back to their own vomit.”

After you’ve been back to the vomit, or after you’ve fed from the pigs, the Father still loves you enough to bring you back, but if you habitually sin, and I’m not just talking about bad habits, but I am talking about direct moral violations which are indicated in the Bible then there is a repercussion for those things.

Of course none of us is perfect, but God has to do that refining work in us to purge out all the impurities.  So while we wait on God let us remember not to chase after the anointing.  The only anointing we need is from Jesus the Author and Finisher of our faith.

The Truth makes you free

Recently, I’ve been swung back and forth like a pendulum between radical Law for Christians, and radical grace for Christians, so what I had to do is go back to the basics and read the Word of God for myself.  If the Word of God contradicts my opinions or what I have been taught, then I essentially have to go back to the Word of God and agree with what it says, and change my own mind, or repent for my opinions or beliefs that do not line up with God’s Word.

So here’s where I started this week –

2 Corinthians 3 –

The Spirit, Not the Letter

And we have such trust through Christ toward God. Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God, who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit;[a] for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

Glory of the New Covenant

But if the ministry of death, written and engraved on stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of the glory of his countenance, whichglory was passing away, how will the ministry of the Spirit not be more glorious? For if the ministry of condemnation had glory, the ministry of righteousness exceeds much more in glory. 10 For even what was made glorious had no glory in this respect, because of the glory that excels. 11 For if what is passing away was glorious, what remains is much more glorious.

12 Therefore, since we have such hope, we use great boldness of speech— 13 unlike Moses, who put a veil over his face so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the end of what was passing away. 14 But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ. 15 But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart. 16 Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.17 Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

The context of this passage begins with Paul’s exhortation to the believers in Corinth in stating that they are the “proof through the Spirit” or epistle that is not written with ink, but is a testimony of what Christ has done through the efforts of Paul’s ministry.

Some people like to believe that we take “too seriously” Paul’s epistle’s, and not the four Gospel books.  But in reality all the books from Genesis to Revelation are inspired [to be breathed upon] by God.  If you discount all of Paul’s epistles, then you also discount the book of ACTS too, which spoke of the ministry of Paul.  Paul went to the Jews to preach the Gospel or Good News, not Bad News, but they were too bull headed to believe it, so then he ran back and said, ok, “if you won’t believe in Jesus, then I’ll go to the Gentiles, and maybe they’ll receive the news better.”  The Early Church discussed on what should be done on what rules and laws that the Gentile believers are supposed to follow and the settled on a few and those are mentioned in the book of ACTS.  I believe they are to stay away from idolatry, fornication, and eating animals that were strangled, or the blood of animals.  If I remember correctly that was pretty much it, and they did what was “good as it seemed to the Holy Spirit.”

So then in Galatians 3 I read the following –

Purpose of the Law

19 What purpose then does the law serve? It was added because of transgressions, till the Seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was appointed through angels by the hand of a mediator. 20 Now a mediator does not mediate for one only, but God is one.

21 Is the law then against the promises of God? Certainly not! For if there had been a law given which could have given life, truly righteousness would have been by the law. 22 But the Scripture has confined all under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.23 But before faith came, we were kept under guard by the law, kept for the faith which would afterward be revealed. 24 Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. 25 But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor.

Galatians 1 says –

Only One Gospel

I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.

10 For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ.

Phillipians 3:

Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the mutilation! For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the Spirit,[a] rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh, though I also might have confidence in the flesh. If anyone else thinks he may have confidence in the flesh, I more so: circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of the Hebrews; concerning the law, a Pharisee; concerning zeal, persecuting the church; concerning the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.

But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; 10 that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, 11 if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.

Paul had all the “qualifications and requirements” to meet the Law, but he suffered a loss of all those things and his so called status symbol in the Jewish society, and he reached for something greater and when he found it he came to the conclusion that all of those things really didn’t matter.

So if the ministry of the death and condemnation is the Law, and the ministry of the Spirit and justification is by faith, then why still hold on to the Law, what benefit is the Law?  We have examined the Purpose of the Law, and that it is a teacher, but now the majority of the people getting saved are not Jews, so how do we distinguish?  The book of Romans goes through this quite a bit and I have studied on it, and I recommend that you do too as well as the book of Hebrews that goes quite into detail the depth of the study of the better covenant.

Then this statement from Jesus leaves us in a bit of a conundrum –

Christ Fulfills the Law

17 “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. 18 For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. 19 Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.

There is another time that Jesus mentions “being great in the kingdom of Heaven” – 24 And when the ten heard it, they were greatly displeased with the two brothers. 25 But Jesus called them to Himself and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those who are great exercise authority over them. 26 Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant. 27 And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave— 28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”

Also there is a mention of first and last where Jesus says that those who are “first will be last”, and “last will be first”.

I think the problem comes in is in the fact that our beloved Messianic Jewish Brothers and Sisters and the fellow Gentile Brothers and Sisters don’t seem to come eye to eye on the subject of the benefit of the Law and the Torah because the Messianic Jews have been taught all their life that the Torah is a Blessing, but in reality even the definition of the word, Torah means to “teach”, and that is how Paul used to define the purpose of the Law.  God is not the author of confusion.  Confusion comes from the enemy.

Matthew 23 –

Then Jesus spoke to the multitudes and to His disciples, saying: “The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat. Therefore whatever they tell you to observe,[a] that observe and do, but do not do according to their works; for they say, and do not do. For they bind heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers. But all their works they do to be seen by men. They make their phylacteries broad and enlarge the borders of their garments. They love the best places at feasts, the best seats in the synagogues, greetings in the marketplaces, and to be called by men, ‘Rabbi, Rabbi.’ [or Pastor, Pastor] But you, do not be called ‘Rabbi’; for One is your Teacher [or Pastor], the Christ,[b] and you are all brethren. Do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in heaven. 10 And do not be called teachers; for One is your Teacher, the Christ11 But he who is greatest among you shall be your servant. 12 And whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.

There is only One that is the Teacher, and that is Christ – what is the implication there, that Christ teaches you all that you need to learn taking the place of the Torah because the Torah teaches,  but Jesus is the Teacher.

From personal experience I’ve learned then when I listen to teachings about Christians or Gentile believers obeying the Law, and when I open up books like the Complete Jewish Bible, I don’t experience freedom, it actually seems like I’ll never measure up so that’s why I thank God for His Son who has given us freedom.  The Truth shall make you free, and if you sincerely believe in Jesus Christ, and follow the guidelines given the New Testament, then you are no longer under bondage and you are free.  You just need to be completely free and for that you really need Jesus to come in and teach you through the Holy Spirit.

I’d like to thank my fellow blogger mtsweat for his blog:  Resting in His Grace because it makes me realize that truly be able to rest is to know what Grace is all about.

This prayer is for me as well as for anyone else that might be struggling with this issue:

Dear Precious Heavenly Father,

We know that Your Word is Truth and in Your Word there is liberty.  We thank You that You are beyond our comprehension and that You have allowed as much as needed to understand You.  Thank You for revealing to us little by little who You are and what You are doing.  Help the believers to set the record straight so that Truth may abide in us and be made to dwell in our body, soul, and spirit, so that we are whole and undivided just like You are whole and undivided.  I thank You that You are revealing the Truth of God’s Word to all of your saints, and give us the eyes of understanding and ears to hear what You have to say Lord God, We Thank You.  You are not the Author of confusion, but you are the Author if wholeness, soundness, and You are abound in mercy.  Thank You dearly.

In Jesus Mighty Name I pray,

Amen.

Dangers of being a false teacher

I would like to start off this post by saying that whatever you hear from anyone whether it be me, or your pastor, or anyone on the pulpit, search out the Scriptures and be like the Bereans instead of the Thessalonians and with the instruction and guidance of the Holy Spirit search out things for yourself.  When I was reading this chapter in the Bible – 2 Peter 2 – I had to come into real repentance and at the end of this post there is going to be a prayer for anyone who has misled the congregation, or has failed to see things in a proper light, or whose sins have led people astray or led people to be abused and victimized by their words or actions.  This is my way of a public confession.  Now I know that God does not see my sin, and He sees me as righteous and perfect and holy, but I am also responsible because I am a leader by means of this blog and the people that read it, and I don’t want this to weigh on my conscience in the future if I haven’t come to the Cross and laid my mistakes and failures all down and let Jesus restore and pick up the pieces wherever I have gone wrong and cleanse me with His Blood.  This is also a reminder to those people who are called to be teachers for Christ, that they don’t get pulled away into becoming false teachers or prophets.  Keep yourself on guard against these things:

 Destructive Doctrines

2 But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction. And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed. By covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words; for a long time their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction does[a] not slumber.

Doom of False Teachers

For if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to hell and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment; and did not spare the ancient world, but saved Noah, one of eight people, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood on the world of the ungodly; and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, making them an example to those who afterward would live ungodly; and delivered righteous Lot, who was oppressed by the filthy conduct of the wicked (for that righteous man, dwelling among them, tormented his righteous soul from day to day by seeing and hearing their lawless deeds)— then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment, 10 and especially those who walk according to the flesh in the lust of uncleanness and despise authority. They are presumptuous, self-willed. They are not afraid to speak evil of dignitaries, 11 whereas angels, who are greater in power and might, do not bring a reviling accusation against them before the Lord.

I’d like to stop here for a second – How many of us including myself, have spoken something bad about some pastor along the time?  How many times have we spoken evil against someone who is in a Church elder?  There are people out there who have abused their position of authority and participated in lustful and abusive acts – there were men who abused the young girls and quoted the Bible for reasons why they should do it.  There are men and women that have led the pulpit but denied their natural form of use.  But in all cases whatever the sin is for the person, we shouldn’t remember or it recall it, but warn people against it and this passage says that the angels are afraid to speak evil of dignitaries, even so, we should not speak evil against anyone, especially against authorities.  (refer to Touch not the Anointed post)

Depravity of False Teachers

12 But these, like natural brute beasts made to be caught and destroyed, speak evil of the things they do not understand, and will utterly perish in their own corruption, 13 and will receive the wages of unrighteousness, as those who count it pleasure to carouse in the daytime. They are spots and blemishes, carousing in their own deceptions while they feast with you, 14 having eyes full of adultery and that cannot cease from sin, enticing unstable souls. They have a heart trained in covetous practices, and are accursed children. 15 They have forsaken the right way and gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness; 16 but he was rebuked for his iniquity: a dumb donkey speaking with a man’s voice restrained the madness of the prophet.

17 These are wells without water, clouds[b] carried by a tempest, for whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever.[c]

When I was reading this, I was like, “Woah, I wouldn’t want to be one of these people!!!”  Imagine the blackness of darkness forever.  They speak evil of things they do not understand and are spots and blemishes (We are called to be a spotless and bride without blemish)- There are people out there like that have eyes full of adultery – (Even if you look at a person with lust in your heart then you have committed adultery with them)  This reminds me of a Jezebel spirit which Jesus talks about in Revelation – “having eyes full of adultery and that cannot cease from sin, enticing unstable souls.”  These are people with seducing spirits and need deliverance or help to be set free if they are willing, but so often people are not willing or too ashamed to admit their mistakes.  You’ve got to admire celebrities that admit this problem, but then they don’t turn to Jesus for help, so then where is their healing from this situation.  These Jezebel or seducing spirits have forsaken the right way and gone astray, and followed the way of Balaam the son of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness, but he was rebuked for his iniquity.  This particular passage in 2 Peter refers back to Revelation 3.

Deceptions of False Teachers

18 For when they speak great swelling words of emptiness, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through lewdness, the ones who have actually escaped[d] from those who live in error. 19 While they promise them liberty, they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by whom a person is overcome, by him also he is brought into bondage. 20 For if, after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning. 21 For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them. 22 But it has happened to them according to the true proverb: “A dog returns to his own vomit,”[e] and, “a sow, having washed, to her wallowing in the mire.

“Swelling words of emptiness” – I hope my words have not been empty, I believe they were inspired by the Holy Spirit.  Now that brings up an interesting point, there are pastors that “promise liberty”, but are slaves of corruption-

The Message says it like this –

17-19There’s nothing to these people—they’re dried-up fountains, storm-scattered clouds, headed for a black hole in hell. They are loudmouths, full of hot air, but still they’re dangerous. Men and women who have recently escaped from a deviant life are most susceptible to their brand of seduction. They promise these newcomers freedom, but they themselves are slaves of corruption, for if they’re addicted to corruption—and they are—they’re enslaved.

20-22If they’ve escaped from the slum of sin by experiencing our Master and Savior, Jesus Christ, and then slid back into that same old life again, they’re worse than if they had never left. Better not to have started out on the straight road to God than to start out and then turn back, repudiating the experience and the holy command. They prove the point of the proverbs, “A dog goes back to its own vomit” and “A scrubbed-up pig heads for the mud.”

There are definite dangers of backsliding and falling away and losing your crown- I would like to believe like some pastors do in Once Saved Always Saved, but the Scripture does have teaching that says that it is possible to be saved and then return back to your old ways, especially when people receive the “Promise of Liberty”, but they themselves are slaves to corruption.  After the first few years I was born again, I experienced some “backsliding” because I was constantly going in and out of churches and not able to find a home church so I do now that even after you’ve been baptised you can still lose your way, but the wonderful thing is that sometimes God will just give you a big wake up call, to where you’ve hit rock bottom, and then you will find your way back, and some people never have the chance to do that and are called before their time, but He is merciful to all.

Romans 11:32-

32 All people have refused to obey God. And He has put them all together as people who don’t obey Him so that he can show mercy to everyone. (ERV)

Isn’t that relieving, knowing that despite the pressure of having to live up to be obedient to God even in ways when we haven’t been loving or followed His nudgings, or guidance, that He has mercy on everyone!!  Praise be to God, for His throne is exalted forever.

Here is a Prayer for people that have led people astray through their teachings:

Heavenly Father,

I come humbly before Your Throne of Grace, knowing that You are exalted and high above the earth and that Your very Kingdom rules and reigns with authority.  If I have anyway abused, neglected, manipulated, people or Your pulpit, then please forgive me and cleanse me with the Blood of Your Son Jesus, and cleanse away all impurities out of my mind, and heart and wash me in that precious Blood.  Help me to proclaim the Truth to the people, which is Jesus Christ, and declare the Word of God, with the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and help me not to backslide and slip away like a “dog that turns back to it’s own vomit”.  Lord I know Your ways are merciful and kind, gracious and wonderful, that You will keep the works that are good, and burn away the dead works, but more than that it is by believing upon the name of Jesus and how Jesus has kept us free from sin, that keeps me wanting to share the Good News, and Yes, it is Good News.  For all the times that I have not listened or obeyed, Thank You for having mercy and patience with me.  Thank You for helping.  Give me a fresh start and wisdom to seek after You.  In Jesus Mighty Name I pray, Amen.

Day of Revolt by the Succeed in Life organization – don’t go there

I was going about my day and I noticed a little ad a company hung on my door and it quoted Psalm 7:11 which says – God is a just judge,
And God is angry with the wicked every day.

It had a sign on the front – “IT’S NOT FAIR”   and it said “And yet, throughout history men and women of faith experienced amazing victories only after they got angry and made an intelligent, planned out revolt against their situations”

There are many things wrong with this statement, and for Christians who may be new to their walk of faith, I do not want you to be deceived.  When David was quoting that Psalm – he had physical enemies, but in Ephesians 6:12 it says – “12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age,[c] against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

The Psalm – is actually called deliverance from enemies, but we don’t have enemies that are physical, and a mass stream of people having a revolt is not going to help anyone.  And actually the verse in the King James Version says – 11God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day.

How would a righteous person act?  They would act the same way Jesus acted.  Jesus didn’t fight His accusers.  He didn’t say life was unfair.  He didn’t revolt.  He knew His Father and our God would hear, but He instead said, forgive them they know not what they do.  The way to reach God’s heart is through repentance, and prayer and turning your heart towards God in love, and showing mercy and compassion toward other people.

Jesus said, “Many will come in the last days saying ‘He is here’ or ‘He is in the upper room’ do not go there because when the world sees me I will be riding on the clouds and every eye will see me.”

God is a just judge.  That part is true, but it is up to God to decide who He will have mercy on and compassion on.  God judges everything righteously and fairly and there is no unfairness in Him.  He weighs heavily on His heart before He does something.  There is hope for the righteous, and to tell you the truth that our righteousness is nothing but filthy rags, but it is His righteousness bought and paid with by the Blood of Jesus that makes us worthy and blameless before His sight.  Why does He allow all these things to happen?  He wants to show us His mercy and give us time to repent.

Ezekiel 18 says –

21 “But if a wicked man turns from all his sins which he has committed, keeps all My statutes, and does what is lawful and right, he shall surely live; he shall not die. 22 None of the transgressions which he has committed shall be remembered against him; because of the righteousness which he has done, he shall live. 23 Do I have any pleasure at all that the wicked should die?” says the Lord God, “and not that he should turn from his ways and live?

24 “But when a righteous man turns away from his righteousness and commits iniquity, and does according to all the abominations that the wicked man does, shall he live? All the righteousness which he has done shall not be remembered; because of the unfaithfulness of which he is guilty and the sin which he has committed, because of them he shall die.

25 “Yet you say, ‘The way of the Lord is not fair.’ Hear now, O house of Israel, is it not My way which is fair, and your ways which are not fair? 26 When a righteous man turns away from his righteousness, commits iniquity, and dies in it, it is because of the iniquity which he has done that he dies. 27 Again, when a wicked man turns away from the wickedness which he committed, and does what is lawful and right, he preserves himself alive. 28 Because he considers and turns away from all the transgressions which he committed, he shall surely live; he shall not die. 29 Yet the house of Israel says, ‘The way of the Lord is not fair.’ O house of Israel, is it not My ways which are fair, and your ways which are not fair?

30 “Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways,” says the Lord God. “Repent, and turn from all your transgressions, so that iniquity will not be your ruin. 31 Cast away from you all the transgressions which you have committed, and get yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. For why should you die, O house of Israel? 32 For I have no pleasure in the death of one who dies,” says the Lord God. “Therefore turn and live!”

This passage talks about repentance – not revolt.  Isaiah 59 says –

We look for justice, but there is none;
For salvation, but it is far from us.
12 For our transgressions are multiplied before You,
And our sins testify against us;
For our transgressions are with us,
And as for our iniquities, we know them:
13 In transgressing and lying against the Lord,
And departing from our God,
Speaking oppression and revolt,
Conceiving and uttering from the heart words of falsehood.

Ezekiel 33:

‘The righteousness of the righteous man shall not deliver him in the day of his transgression; as for the wickedness of the wicked, he shall not fall because of it in the day that he turns from his wickedness; nor shall the righteous be able to live because of his righteousness in the day that he sins.’ 13 When I say to the righteous that he shall surely live, but he trusts in his own righteousness and commits iniquity, none of his righteous works shall be remembered; but because of the iniquity that he has committed, he shall die. 14 Again, when I say to the wicked, ‘You shall surely die,’ if he turns from his sin and does what is lawful and right, 15 if the wicked restores the pledge, gives back what he has stolen, and walks in the statutes of life without committing iniquity, he shall surely live; he shall not die. 16 None of his sins which he has committed shall be remembered against him; he has done what is lawful and right; he shall surely live.

17 “Yet the children of your people say, ‘The way of the Lord is not fair.’ But it is their way which is not fair! 18 When the righteous turns from his righteousness and commits iniquity, he shall die because of it. 19 But when the wicked turns from his wickedness and does what is lawful and right, he shall live because of it. 20 Yet you say, ‘The way of the Lord is not fair.’ O house of Israel, I will judge every one of you according to his own ways.”

One thing we have to understand about God is that God is a God of justice, but He is also a God of love, mercy, compassion.  He is gentle, kind, longsuffering, peaceful, kind, slow to anger, good to all, and the more we praise Him, the more He finds answers to our problems.  The more we trust Him and become like clay in the hands of the Potter, the more we can rest in peace knowing that the God we serve has answers to our problems.

Nehemiah 9:

They [Israel, but could apply to all of us] refused to obey,
And they were not mindful of Your wonders
That You did among them.
But they hardened their necks,
And in their rebellion[b]
They appointed a leader
To return to their bondage.
But You are God,
Ready to pardon,
Gracious and merciful,
Slow to anger,
Abundant in kindness,
And did not forsake them.

So what is the answer – Jesus is the answer – prayer is the answer, seeking God with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength, and loving your neighbor as you love yourself is the answer, and repentance is the answer.

I don’t know what this organization is about, and I hope I have not brought more publicity to their cause, but if I have then God has His purposes.  But fellow brothers and sisters in Christ, I do not want you to be deceived into thinking that a Day of Revolt is going to answer anything.  Now I know that people reading this will take this out of context and twist this and use this for their own purposes, but without the presence of the Holy Spirit inside of you none of this will have any value.  There is a warning in there for taking one verse and using it out of context without applying it to revelation given by the Holy Spirit that matches up with the Word of God because if words are abused, then there will be consequences for that as well.

So for all those people that “work hard but see very few results, gave your life to someone who betrayed you, events caused your dreams to fall apart, doctors give you no hope” here is a prayer for you:

Heavenly Father,

I have been working very hard all my life, but am not seeing results, but I trust in You and I lean not on my own understanding knowing that all things work out together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose.  Help me to see what Your purpose is and to know that I am not just burning my fuel on things that don’t matter to Your Kingdom.

Lord I have been betrayed by someone, and I feel like it’s unfair, but I know that You are fair and just and that You Yourself was betrayed by someone and I know that You understand what I am going through.  Thank You Father for sending Jesus who understands.

Lord I know that events in my life caused my dreams to fall apart, but I know that Your plans and dreams for my life are much bigger and that Your thoughts and Your ways are higher than my thoughts and my ways.  Thank You for helping me not to be discouraged by my circumstances.

I have been to every kind of doctor imaginable, and the answers are not there, but I know that through the stripes of Jesus I am healed and the sickness in my body is a lie, but Lord Thank You for being Jehovah Rapha, My healer, and I have faith that You will put Your loving arms on me and the anointing will follow through and You have already healed me.

I turn to You and confess that I am a sinner and that nothing is possible without Your Blood sacrifice that was shed for me.  I may not understand everything right now, but I believe and have faith in a God who is just and gives me hope, and that You will work in my life.  Thank You Lord, for Your miraculous power in every day little things.  I know that whatever my problems are they are not as bad as other people, and that someone else has it much worse.  Lord God I thank You, and I accept Your Son Jesus into my life.

In Jesus Mighty Name I pray,

Amen

At this time you can also pray with your heart as well.

Deceptive searches for spirituality and awareness

In the last days, the ones we are living in, there will be many people who will try to deceive people into thinking that Jesus is not the only way to God, and to Heaven, and that He is not the only way that we should go…but there needs to be something very important that Jesus said, “13 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 Because[a] narrow is the gate and difficult isthe way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.”

He goes on to say – “15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? 17 Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them.”

Many people are lead into finding “spirituality” in the last days and in their hunger and thirst for the supernatural they will come to be deceived because Christ is the doorway to get into eternal life and to get into heaven.  Even if you don’t believe in heaven, there is a hell and it is waiting to punish those that don’t believe in Jesus Christ as the only way to get into heaven.  There will be many people who will search for signs and wonders and when they see them they will be amazed, but in the search for these kinds of things they will only be deceived and led into destruction.

Many of these things are such as: yoga, meditation, lucid dreaming, and trying to find the “inner light”, but Truth be told the only light that there is in the world is the Light of Christ.  Demons can appear as angels of light, but they are meant to destroy you.  When searching for anything other than Christ, and His Word can lead to a way of error.  When a person accepts Christ, they receive the Holy Spirit, but this is the Spirit that comes from God through Christ alone.  When people who don’t know Christ try to find something spiritual within, they are actually being exposed to the devil, and Caryl Matrisciana says that many of these things can lead to a way of summoning death.

The problem is that most people don’t accept Christ because they are led into a way of sin, and they refuse to repent.  In the Bible says that what God did to those people who refused to repent.  He loves us all and He wants to see us with Him, but when we refuse to repent, He can get close to us as He wants to.  We need to repent, in the sense that turn to God instead of turning away from God and seek to hold the fruit of the Holy Spirit.  The devil is liar and he is very cunning and manipulative and he would not like to see anyone turn to Christ so he has put all kinds of things on earth as means of a copycat to deter people away from the Truth.  Have you ever seen a counterfeit dollar bill?  Hopefully, you haven’t, but a good counterfeit looks like the original, but it is not the original, it is a copycat.  When people try to make themselves greater than God and try to achieve a form of self-awareness, then that get really destroy someone.  That was what buddha was trying to do through meditation, but in the end it got him in a grave, and what happened to his soul- if he was really following what buddhists believe now it would have ended up in nirvana, which is nothingness.  Do you really want to end up in nothingness?

We are going to have eternal life after we die, but it is either going to be in heaven or in hell.  But the good news is not to scare you, or to make you be offended, but to show you why walk down a dangerous slippery path, when there is a God, our Heavenly Father who just wants to show you how much He loves you.  He doesn’t want to see you separated from Him, but He is holy, full of light and pure, and there is no darkness in Him at all.  He gave through His Son, Jesus, the Light of this world, to show the way to have eternal life.  So if you want to just glance at this blog posting and ignore it the choice is yours, but ultimately you will have to make a choice to either accept or reject Jesus, and God looks at the heart, and if you have rejected Him, even now He is crying tears for you in heaven, but you will have to live with the consequences forever.
